The restoration of my '49 CC is complete. (Marine plywood with a mahagany finish) After a shakedown cruise last week, I only had to contend with a slipping clutch and relocating the bilge pump further stern (pics to follow), both correctable.

My concern ... If I were to leave my boat at the lake for an extended period of time, I am afraid it might take on to much water and sink. I did install a bilge pump on an auto switch, but I have heard horror stories of pumps failing or batteries depleting.

I was thinking about investing in a lift. I was offered a Shoremaster at a rock bottom price, but it has cradles for and aft instead of bunks side by side.

1. Do you think I should get the lift, risk the pump, or trailer?
2. If I go with the lift, should I modify to bunks? If so, do you know of any resources???

Thanks folks. SM

I like bunks under mine. I did them myself with 2 beam laid out on the garage floor and just copied the design of the trailer.

I was using slings (short term) but they were a pain to get into and kept jumping the cable out of the sheave since they were too light.
