I am looking at some chrome accessories to dress up my engine. A lot of the time there are 2 models, short and tall. For the things like the water pump, oil pans and such. Wondering what the 454's have in these boats short or tall?

It's not the chrome thats rusting. It's the steel under it because of the poor chrome jobs on the aftermarket add-ons. Marinized engines used to come with things like cast iron or aluminum oil pans to handle the dampness of a bilge. The aluminum pulley will corrode too unless it's anodized.
