Hello I live in Martinique (french caribean) Ihave a tristar 190 (the only real ski boat on this island!!!)with a 351 pcm engine and 71 velvet drive.
It works ok in reverse but i have problems in forward nothing under 15oo rpm and after ok no slips if i put it in neutral again i have to go to 1500 rpm to go in forward!!!
IT work ok since i change the oil seals (front and rear)
Please what the matter with it???
Sorry for very bad language and thanks for your goods forums!
Only ski boats are goods!

welcome quick,

Sounds like a transmission problem...
I'm sure Eric, our resident transmission specialist, and the others will know what the problem is.

and, your language is not bad. There are other members here that use bad language, but I didn't see any in your post

BTW, we would love to see some pics of that boat in those French Caribbean waters!

it sounds like the front input shaft snap ring is either missing or broke, dont spend money with quick fixes such as additives and so on, if you are noticing a problem i am 100% sure there is an internal problem. Additives will only create more damage. remove and take to a good trans shop

quick, cool video of you and your son wake boarding! beautiful scenery. I can't read French, but cool pictures. I wish we had water that clear here, is that the ocean?

Hope you get your boat back in the water soon. That has to be a rare boat over there.
