Hey everyone!!

Was out for the first time of the season this weekend getting ready to hit that water and I lost most of forward with my Borg Warner 10-17-04 1:1 tranny.

Reverse still works great. There is barely anything for forward. I have fluid and all that.

Since I got the tranny (used with boat) it has always taken a bit for it to engage into forward.

Anyone have any ideas what may be wrong?

I am pulling it out and taking a part to look at but not sure what to expect.

Any help would be appreciated. Getting ready for long trip in a few weeks....

Thanks,

Steve

Thanks boat dr.

I do have a 40+ exp machanic that said he will take a look at it. All I have to do is get it on the bench.

From what I can find, it sounds like a snap ring??

Maybe Eric will see this post and confirm possibility?

I will have to see what Eric would charge and what the turnaround time would be.

Need it kind of quick.

I have 1 in the shop right now from a experienced mechanic, unless you do these transmissions day in and day out...let me put it to you this way, if you need a heart transplant do you want to go to the cardiologist that put a pig heart in some one or the orthopedic doc for heart surgery? I think you would want to go to the cardiologist
no pun intended, its the honest truth, I finished one friday that someone had thier hands in and by the time the CC dealership got done with him it was $1200.00 thats after he bought his own $300.00 worth of parts on top of that,
By the way, it does sound like somebody left the input snap ring off and it blew the forward cylinder out, if so i have many used parts....you'll need them

Hey Eric-

I decided not to rebuild mine this spring since I have so much other stuff going on. I will give you a call for parts, etc. in the fall. Replacing the damper plate did fix my problem. Anyway, I have been so busy at work I have not had time to line the shaft back up and get it in!
