Does anyone know the sizes of the breakers and wiring (gauge) used for the controls in my '05 216 Limited with keyless ignition? More specifically, the sizes for the ballast tank pumps?

The originals are still there along with the one not used, including for a belly ballast and hot water shower. I want to use the belly ballast wires for a fat sac and have already added a shower with pump.

Mark, You will need to check the amp draw on the fat sac pump and then compare that to the breaker you have. The breaker must be rated higher than the pump but no more than about 100%. Wire must be sized to the breaker size just like wiring in your house. Below is a wire sizing chart out of the West catalog to help you. It does factor in length for voltage drop but you will have a relatively short run. Do use marine wire as it is tin plated so you won't end up with a green corroded copper mess at connections.
Do the spare breakers have factory wired feeds? In other words are they already connected to the hot side of the battery? If they aren't, don't just connect then to anything under the dash. Get back to us here. |

54 Atom,
Thanks for the info. The breakers with relays & controls are in a factory sealed box behind the kick plate. The breaker reset buttons are mounted through the front of the box but there are no markings to indicate the amperages. I am going to use the same pumps for the belly ballast fat sac as the factory has provided for the rear port & starboard ballast tanks. I therefore should be ok. It would be nice to know the breaker sizes anyways. I just need to determine the wire size to match (or larger) what the factory has provided. Does anyone know where I can get the waterproof pin connectors? Thanks, Mark |

Mark, I would adhesive lined heat shrink tubing over your connections. There are also heat shrink Sta-Kons but they may be hard to find. Don't forget about the marine grade wire.
