Wet motors, what starter,Stringer fixes

Guys,

I checked out this boat more thouroghly this weekend. Its basically all there, but has been neglected. Its a '65 and is the pink color that they used to call champagne - I think I'll name the boat "Stinky Pinky"

The owner said that he drained/flushed the engine and then filled it with oil.

The starter is missing so I couldnt turn it over as I didnt bring my sockets with me. He said that it was rebuilt and had ~70 hours on it before it sunk. Upon external examination this looks to be the case, but you never know.

Its a 260 interceptor - whare can I get the starter? Is it the counterrotating type? How can I tell? I wonder what it would cost to have it gone through?

I looked at the stringers very carefully - poking and tapping everywhere I could get access to... I found some very hollow sounding areas about 2 feet behind the transmission so it will definately need the stringers repaired.

I looked online and found a epoxy product called seacast at ttp://www.transomrepair.com/ Supposedly you can use it for stringers as well. Any thoughts on this? Looks like I could cut the tops off the stringers, dig out the rotten wood, and then fill and reglass the tops.

Glassing in a repair to the stringer is the best way. I removed my tranny, cut the top off the fiberglass and poured in epoxy. Much easier than replacing the wood. I did that once also...not necessary.
