I have a 98 SN CB...Last night we were out skiing the course, finished up and did a little barefooting. This is were I noticed that I am topping out at about 41 mph. and I am running 5200 rpm. Still the Factory prop and according to the stop watch, and gps my speed is right on.
Anyone have any suggestions? also anyone know the facotry prop size for my boat, it is the GT_40. Looking at getting a back up prop, and trying to figure out what is the deal with mine, Last year I was running about 4800rpm, and 47 mph. Same prop same boat same water. HELP. Thanks in advance. |

If its not the prop, my second thoughts are that the trans may be slipping at top end, just a hunch and something possibly to look at, check the oil on the trans for a burnt smell and also let us know some history on any mechanical issues you've had in the past such as water in trans, low trans oil etc....
You'll get exactly whats happening if the trans breaks free, you'll get a slower boat speed and higher engine speed....this of coarse is if you dont have an issue with the prop |

The boat just turn 194 hours, I have never had any trouble with anything mechanically. I will check the fluid when I get home and let you guys know.

there is a forward drum that controls forward in these PCM transmissions, they are very delicate to high rpm shifts, reverse slams and extremely sensitive to water in the oil. It is very common for them to get hairline cracks in them and cause forward clutch pack leakage... just trying to give you some ideas what to look for.... troubleshoot this weekend and advise
