Got up yesterday morning and while just about to leave for church, Laurie saw what she thought were a few boats hanging out on a newly exposed island out a 1/4 mile in the lake from us. Upon closer inspection with the binocs it revealed a late model SNOB with a tower, HIGH and DRY, so it happened Sat nite. There was an outboard tow boat- single engine, trying to pull him off and it wasn't budging. Well, I hated missing the excitement but we headed out, thinking I'd miss it all. Low and behold 90 minutes later she's still there. So I jump in a boat and run out for a closer look. About that time, a bigger tow boat with 2 big Mercs has pulled up. See picts.

Sitting without an ouce of water below the hull.

This is the larger tow boat on the first of a half doz attempts. He kept pulling from two slightly diff directions to loosen it up I guess and would stand the boat almost straight up. The tow cable is so long to get deeper water, I couldn't get both boats in same frame. POS camera phone.

This is when he finally manages to get it
free.

Our lake level is currently about 5 feet lower than normal, so we have new found islands all over. Ironically, this guy just aimed for the wrong side of the flashing channel marker. This picture below is our dock right now and for those here last month, they didn't see any shoreline. But it'll come back, as they always drop it in the winter anyway.

You need to change the walkway down to the floating dock to a ladder!
We are dry here on Lanier as well. Parts of the lake have no water with the floating docks not floating any more.
What was the damage to the boat?

Now I'd call it more of a "flying dock" start. Good time to go find that prop!

Our ramp down to the floating portion is pretty dramatic, but do-able. I have no clue as to the damage to the island hopping SNOB. Surely needs all new under-water gear at least.

Duke Power, (related to Duke University, of course) can't do anything more with the water as there are 7 lakes on this chain, all related to the production of power, and they have to keep an even balance, plus the city of Charlotte pulls it's water from the lake just downstream of us. We can still use our ramp but you have to drop the trailer off the 4" drop at the end.

As to finding the Classic prop lost in the lake just a ways off the dock, wierd as it sounds, I had a dream about it the other night, and the guys found it WITHOUT diving. All 3 blades were bent over however.

Waterdog/Andy, I'll call you before/if we head out. There's always water in the Pamlico! And if not there, how late do you still go up to Gaston? I'll call Jmurph too.
