Winterize in Minnesota

Am I missing something. This is the first year I have had a Nautique in 10 years and am getting ready to winterize. However, I never had a problem once with the way I did before.

1) Take boat out after running with Stabil
2) Drain oil and change filter
3) Disconnect intake hose and insert into a 5 gallon bucket
4) As long a engine is warm fill bucket with 2 gallons of earth friendly antifreeze. Have a third gallon on hand juse in case.
5) Within 30 seconds pink antifreeze should be coming out. Turn off Engine.
6) Fog engine.

Done.

I have never drained before because I worry if i got all the water in some places.

Never had a problem ever.

You think theres less of a chance of leaving water behind by draining the block than there is by leaving it full of water? Sounds like backwards logic to me

I agree with Pete- youve been lucky so far. The RV antifreeze doesnt offer much protection when diluted.

Don't forget the good old method of just draining the water!

Eric, I had better say more on the subject on just draining! First, I do not advise it. The antifreeze is very good insurance. With the complexities of todays engines as compared to the good old straight 6 Hercules block draining and pouring antifreeze in to get any low spots is the only way to go.

I thought that maybe you thought that that i thought not to antifreeze, but then you thought that i thought about cheap insurance to antifreeze and then again i thought about it and thinking that you thought about it again hahahahaha.
On the serious side i warm them, fog em, drain em and antifreese them, no more than 2 gallons per engine (it adds up),when you drain the block it also cuts down on antifreeze useage, those of you that like to pollute can use green antifreeze, i use bio AF and you can fire the boat in the lake

Now I am confused, I thought "it" was all pink on the inside.....
But there I go thinking again, and Karen says I am not allowed to do that.
Winterization consists of throwing a light blanket in the boat for those afternoon runs.

Thanks Pete but I am not thinking of goin' back North anytime soon. I always used it straight.

dr: You know I like your "winterization" method. You also know you should listen to the boat nurse more often. Did you notice on another thread that I got my package? Call you next week.
