Pulled you right in did'nt I. Today was a very nice day outside in central Florida so I spent several hours working on the Barefoot. I was surprised as to the overall condition of the foam when I pulled it up. Very little saturation. I was able to cut the foam into big blocks and pull it out in chunks. For your amusement I have posted a few pics.

Now to digress, here is a shot of the deck in front of the pilon. The chopped floor was a little tough coming up because there was NO rot.

Thanks for taking the time to post these, and I'll be watching for updates. I'm sure they'll be a big help to the less experienced like myself. I hope to have mine started soon.

Air box?

Greg, its up in front of the captains seat, under the dash, its where all the venting starts and leads to the engine compartment

My guess was close to that, but it's safer to ask! Thanks

Eric,
Yes, I am going to clean out the section just outboard the stringers. The stringers themselves have proven up to this point to be solid. Additionally, I am going to fabricate an aluminum cradle for the engine to rest on which will be through bolted to the stringers. I am going to go as deep as I have to but no more than necessary. My problem is I have trouble knowing where and when to stop.

are you going to use ply for the floors or go back to glass on top of foam?

Eric,
The outboard stringers will be cut from 3/4 inch 10lb closed cell foam and the deck will be fiberglass laminated nidacore. As you may know nidacore are sheets of very light honeycombed poly. NO MORE WOOD.

Looks like lotsa fun BJ. Will you do the floor like in your '81?

Bet this job will come out just as beautiful or better than the last one!

Hey John,
It is fun.... like a stubbed toe. I would rather run a boat than work on it. After Church, lunch and a little rest, (in honor of my Pop, a highly decorated career Army Aviator.) I chipped away at the BFN a little.
John, what do you think I could do to the Barefoot to improve it over the Ski Nautique and pull somthing better than third place at the Correct craft reunion?
Today I cut down to a main stringer and found it wet. Not rotten but wet. I have decided to replace them as much as I wanted to save them.
Here are a couple of photos of todays results.
