I need to add a fuel return fitting to the plastic tank of my '93 SN. Has anyone done this successfully and, if so, how?
My thoughts: 1. Replace the vent elbow with a "T" fitting so the fuel return would dump in where the vent is located. My concern is that the returning fuel would block the vent from working or dump fuel overboard. I know when the engine is shut off, the vent would do its job. The engine is off often, so I believe pressures would be equalized often enough to avoid problems. 2. Find or make a fitting than can be spliced into the filler neck hose. Such as a stainless steel pipe with a fitting welded into the side. 3. Tap the top of the fuel sending unit and add a barbed niple. Has anone done this and is there enought room on the sending unit flange? Any other ideas? |

I like the t in the vent especially if you put a fuel vapor seperator in line above the T.

I take it you need a return line for an electric fuel pump.If so what kind of fuel pump are you running?I converted my 84 2001 to a marine holley pro-jection.I had to run a return line in mine as well.

Well, yes I need the return line due to an electric fuel pump. However, the pump is the result of swapping in a complete (low hour) '95 PCM "Pro Ski" throttle body electronic fuel injected engine/tranny.
How did you add the return line to your tank. Does a '84 have an aluminum or plastic tank? |

Mine has an aliminum tank so it was fairly simple.I pulled out my sending unit and drilled a hole in it,tapped it and ran an elbow in it.There isnt a lot of room for error,but if i screwed up i could just replace the sending unit.What's wrong with the power plant thats in there now?

I tried what u described with the tank vent and it worked,i did it just as a testing thing ,making sure i could get the fuel injection to work.I felt a little better with it running to the tank
