Hey folks,

It's me again. The restore on my 1981 Nautique is coming along nicely, and I have a few more questions.

First:

I took off the swim platform and supports in order to sand the gel and re-paint the transcm graphics. That is not yet done, but I want to be ready for when I need to re-attach the platform supports... what sort of silicone/sealant should I use?

Thanks for hte help, I'll ask my next question in another post :).

Brian, I highly recommend 3M 5200 adhesive sealant. I really don't like silicone. You can get small tubes at a marine supply or I'm told that Walmart even has it.

I agree with pete's recommendation of 5200 but make sure you are ready to put that thing on and leave it there. If I know I am going to have hardware back off within a couple years for more work I usually use boatlife caulk instead, since it is slightly easier to remove later.

Thanks guys. I'll have to think if I will ever take the deck off again. Probably not, but I'll think about it.

Great help!
