Last month I was able to create a master Price Index for all Correct Crafts sold or listed for sale on this site. The results can be filtered by model and displays a graph of the average listing price for each year.

Curious what you boat is worth? Check out the Used Correct Craft Price Index

That's aswesome Keith. Have you retained all of the asking prices of all boats since you started the site, or is it just the current for sales?

Right now, it's all the boats that have been listed for sale, including those which have sold.

When I get around to it, I'll add the ability to add a time filter, for example, showing results for those updated within the last year.

Great feature Keith,

I especially like being able to click on the year and seeing what boats make up that set.

The only concern that I would have with the chart is that the price or value of the boat might be inflated, or higher dollars for one obvious reason. We have no idea if the price listed for the boat was the actual selling price! Very often the selling price is lower than the listed price. Many buyers attempt to negotiate a better price with the seller. Many boats are listed as BEST OFFER! It would help if somehow the person selling the boat on CCF would be willing or able to notify CCF the actual price that the boat was sold for. This will most likely lower the totals on the graphs. The graph does provide a good starting point to help determine value and a possible selling price of your Correct craft boat.

Hi Skierox,
You are correct. The data in the Price Index is made up of some 'asking' and some actual 'sold' prices. I do ask people to update the price to reflect the actually selling price in the automated email which is generated when a boat is marked as sold. Some update the price and some do not. They should be motivated to adjust the price to the actual selling price as they agree to donate 1% to CCF. Again, some donate, many do not.

I do have a disclaimer on the the Price Index that reads "...data representing the average asking price, by model year, for Correct Crafts currently listed 'for sale' or 'sold' on CorrectCraftFan.com. ..."

All that said, I think the price index is simply the best you are going to get.

I think you said it best that this index, like all used price indexes, is a good starting point when determining what a boat is worth.

Thanks,
Keith

This should NEVER happen...where would we all be without Keith's time and efforts?
I cannot believe that with what we all get out of this great site there are actually people that will not give a little back.

Knowing Keith I am sure that it is not his intent to bring this up....just my .02 worth.

John, I totally agree. I make my donation every year around Christmas. Makes an appropriate gift to Keith for all his hard work here!
To me, it should be a habit for everyone enjoying this great site (very very personal opinion!). Just a thought... The little yearly donation I make is nothing compared to the amount of $ I save being able to work on my boat myself with the help of all the knowledge on CCF.

Keith, I understand what people are saying about being honest in using the site to sell boats. After giving it some more thought and thoughts over the character of some people, I could see a person listing a boat for $8,000 selling for $7,000 and letting you know that the boat sold for $6,000 or even less!!! What I am trying to say is that most likely the graph could be balanced between what is the actual selling price and what is not! Possibly the good and the bad balance each other out? No one really knows! Only the buyer and seller would know the price for sure! My enjoyment is looking at connections between the years and their prices and possible changes in construction and design of the boat that may have added increased value! A great example is the increase in price value of a 1993 (first year no wood stringers)!

For those who don't know, a small version of the Price Index is shown on every For Sale listing as well.

Within a For Sale details page, we display the high, low and average price for either that specific model (if there are enough of that model in the database) or simply any Correct Craft, plus and minus one year.

In other words, if the boat For Sale is a 1986 Ski Nautique it will show the high, low and average price of Ski Nautiques from 1985-1987 (For Sale or Sold on the site).

Look at any of the boats in the For Sale Listings to see what I mean.

I really like seeing the high and low listed! It gives you a better idea of your expectations if you have taken good care of your boat. If your boat has been abused the low price really helps you to stay realistic in your expectations to help in the sale of your boat! I could also see that someday with enough data or numbers of sales that the sale averages could be broken up into regional areas.
