Subject: Gel coater in WI/ IL ?

I am in the process of restoring my 78 SN (last year was the year of the engine, this year is the floor replacement/interior, and next year is the hull) and am trying to find a good (and hopefully reasonably priced) gelcoater in the southern WI/ norther IL area. The previous owner let the boat sit in the water for many years resulting in numuerous blisters below the water line, severe fading of the decals, and a handful of the typical chips/ spider cracks. The nose also has a small crack from a previous owner trailoring mishap.

Any suggestions on where to go?

I hope to find someone by the fall, as I plan on using the boat for this season. Just trying to be proactive in lining someone up.

thanks in advance for your help

Thanks Pete. Anyone else know anyone?

I should also say thanks for everyone who continually posts to this site. Your discussion topics/ answers have provided a wealth of knowledge and experience. I mainly just lurk, since most of my questions have been answered at one point or another and I really am a newbie with little knowledge thus far.

Without all of the helpful info on this site I would not have had the know how or ambition to complete the projects I have so far.

cheers

These are the two names that come to mind.

alsprofiberglass.com

and

fountainofyouthforboats.com

I do not have any experience with them, but I am sure they can quote you some numbers.

Hilton, I am aware of fountainofyouthforboats and didn't mention them because the one boat I've seen from them was painted and not gel. If you contact them, you would want to review this with them.

Mad.,
Here is a http://www.correctcraftfan.com/diaries/details.asp?ID=2901&sort=&pagenum=1&yrstart=1968&yrend=1968 - 68 SN that was re-gelcoated by Harmon Boats in Cicero IN. I've corresponded with the owner, Dave, and it sounds like he's happy with the job. It sure looks GREAT!
