My son wants to use the boat for Wakeboarding, Any thoughts on ballast? How much? placement?

Unless you have a SN with a TSC hull, in my opinion Ballast is simply not needed. Work with what you have, once he is making inverted tricks from both sides on a consistent basis perhaps then it is time to start loading up or buy a WB boat.

Dan, I tend to side with quinner. Too many novices thinnk they need to load the boats up like pros. Nevertheless, you didn't mention which type of boat you have - necessary information to make any kind of recommendation on weight or placement. BKH

Thanks guys, we are new to the ski nautique world so all the help we can get. He has been wakeboarding for a couple of years. Although he is not doing inverted tricks he is doing 360 s etc. He tells me the wake needs to be a different shape now to be able to do the stuff he wants to do. There are different hull types in 1994 I assume? How do I find out which hull type we have?

I am not an expert on ballast, but in my limited experience weighting that hull, and from what I've read, your best best is to go with sack on each side of the engine. From there you can experiment with some weight in back or in the nose to get the shape and size you like. Most posts I've read suggest that a 400 lb sack on each side of the motor box is a great starting point. If the wake is too rampy, or too mushy, add some additional weight in the back.
If you put all the weight in the back, the wake becomes too steep, and too narrow. BKH
