Does anyone have a suggestion of where I can purchase one new? How do you tow skiers without the ski tow (pylon)?

Thanks, Wick

Does the southwind have a lifting ring on the transom ? If so, that will work just fine with a carabiner.

Where can I find a carabiner? Are they weight rated? Does the metal on metal grind and mar the finishes of the fiberglass and metal surfaces?

Thanks, Wick

You can get them from REI or any outdoor sports store. They can be purchased with a coating that will not marr(sp) the surface.
Walmart and I think Target sells them too.

Does the southwind have the base for a pylon glassed into the hull? I really don't know anything about the southwind (or really anything other than my Barracuda). My cuda was missing the pylon when I bought it, so I drew one up, and turned one on a lathe, and made some aluminum brackets for under the floor. It works well, but this is by no means a restoration accurate part.

I see that you're in Lawrenceburg. I'm in Lex. If you are interested, I could help you take a look sometime.

I don't really have any pictures of my part. I made it to slip fit into an extended pylon that came with the boat (it was initially set up for an I/O application, with no pylon). Here is what I have:
Pylon mounted in ugly boat floating in nasty water (KY River at Boonesborough):

me with it posing in the "well damn my boat runs" picture:

With the extended pylon installed:

And last but not least, the drawing that I made. There are a few dimensions that I changed on the fly that are not on this drawing:

PS, the drawing was never really meant for anyone but me, so excuse the sloppy dims…

83, just did a retro fit on my tow bar.I have the original ring and finger from my '64.
I would consider selling it.I installed the new style that is now removable, a needed option in our little boat. Boat dr

If you can't find a pylon, I would not mind helping put something togeather at all; I enjoy this stuff! Oh and if you come to lextown, Phillip Galls on New Circle (woodhill shopping center) would be the place to acquire a good 'beaner.
