In an attempt to get to the NSS, I needed to remvove the shifter. After I removed the shift knob, I started turning the first screw on the black plate, I noticed the nut on the back turning. This made me think that the three screws I was about to take out were the only fasteners holding everything to the panel. I can't tell from the dwg in the Morse manual. If I take these three screws out on the front side, will the rest of the unit fall off the back? Or are there some hidden fasteners underneath the black cover. There is not much room to work in this area and I was afraid to open an can of worms. Please advise.

Kirk,
I hate to tell you this but you're in the wrong spot looking for the NSS. It's on the trans! It will have two white wires on it.

I have taken the three screws out and the whole unit does not fall. The shift mechanism is connected to the cables. I loosened mine to get some masking tape behind to paint it. Paul

Pbrainard - Then what the heck is this showing me out of the Morse manual? My boat occassionaly will not start unless I wiggle the shifter. It's got to be this switch, right?

That's an MV2, yours is older and does not have that switch, put it back together and go to the tranny like Pete suggested.

I thought that might be the case, judging by the pic on the cover of the manual. Sounds like it will be much easier, now. Thanks!
