any tips or tricks for removing mold from vynal and fight it from coming back? bleach eats the threads. one non-bleach mold remover I tried was useless. also it seems aerospace 303 is great for the seats but promotes mold growth. I live in a very humid environment and shes no longer in climate control storage so its been a constant battle. thanks....Lee

Hey Lee-
I feel your pain, man. I have to store covered outside. I to have a constat battle with the mold. If it is not too bad, I found that simple green does an OK job, but I have not found anything that works great. I have not tried the Moldex mentioned above. Let me know if you try it, how it goes.

I have also thought about looking in to a solar powered fan of some sort to keep the air moving under the cover. Anyone done this?

Where in Jacksonville do you go boating most? I am usually on the St. Johns. Put in at Goodby Creek and head south near Jullington Creek and Doctors Inlet. Sometimes we trailer down to Trout Creek.

we live in different J-villes man. I am in NC.
northeast cape fear river is the only place here I use. Lots of water around me but I refuse to dunk it in salt water. I get a lot of snide remarks from people that don't understand, but it is my boat. Heck its a steel trailer too, how long do you think it would last if I kept giving it a salt bath?

Hey Lee

I read an article regarding mold and mildew removal. White vinegar and water 50-50 mix. They also listed a few enzyme cleaners. I wonder if the uphostry is "sealed" with a conditioner before putting it into storage would help?
If all else fails, I'll move the Mustang project over in the garage and keep an eye on it till the regatta.

Sanity,

I cleaned it spotless and used AS303 on the seats. it looked great. I think the 303 made it worse than before! I need a better way to store it I guess. I would take you up on your offer if you weren't 12 hrs away

Thats just plain crazy! Who would ever name two cities Jacksonville! And they are not even that far apart!

Just kidding. Good luck with the mold. If you ever find yourself in my Jacksonville, stop on by.

azeus17,

just to much fun for 1 town I guess.
they call us J-ACTIONVILLE.
Don't know why, it's a little Podunk
town that wouldn't even exist if it weren't
for the marine base.

My inlaws live on Gaston. Great lake! I grew up in Roanoke Rapids so I know Gaston and RR Lake like the back of my hand!

We've had best luck with marine mold removers. Check with your local boat dealer.

Luckily I haven't had much trouble with mold in the SN but our pontoon is a nightmare!

Matt

Got my first ticket on Gaston, no reg onboard and 1 short on pfd's. I was a just a kid fishing and gave some friends a ride. good thing no booze check ha.

I tried some marine stuff, non bleach. label made a bunch of promises but it flunked. I washed some peices today and used 303 frabric cleaner and a brush. Worked pretty good except for a few places that are stained form the mold. going to try an ammonia, hydrogen peroxide and water cocktail for those.
