Looking for advice on how tight the bolts/nuts should be on the trailer spring shackle mounts. It took quite a bit to break them loose - but they have been there for 20 years. I think the nuts are supposed to bottom out on the bolt's shank but not sure.
The plastic bushings inside the spring eyes were worn through - no wonder it squeaked. Replacing the bushings went fairly well until the last screw - somehow the spring eye was twisted in relation to the clevis holes. I finally used a scissors jack between the axle & frame plus a c-clamp to bring it into alignment. Finally got it, so all's well that ends well. Tomorrow will be a sad day - she's going to storage. I've never seen torque specs on the shackle bolts. I've just always given them the best that my skinny arms can do!! On the ones I've done, the bolt and nut will bottom out on the steel bushing. The torque spec is the same for old v-dubs...goodentight!

Thanks guys. Just wanted to make sure & have a safe rig on the highway.
