Me and the girl just bought a 96 super sport, and we couldn't be more excited for the spring.

Between now and then, I want to educate myself as much as possible about my boat. General maintainence, care, upkeep, and anything that might help me down the road.

My question is, where to start? I don't know all that much about boats, except for how do drive them, pull skiers and not be a total jerk on the water. What I would really like we be one resource, (book or site) that I can learn everything about my new rig and boats in general.

any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Jack,
You have already found the source of all information! Well not all of it but this site is the greatest when in comes down to boats. We don't even care who's boat it is! CCfan tends to be on the technical side whereas others (like planet nautique) are more on the skiing and boarding side but we do have the "ski, ride and foot" forum section and plenty of member talent. Take some time and navigate through the different areas of CCfan. You'll find tons of information not available anywhere else. Use the search feature and if you can't find what you're looking for, ask. We have lots of regular members who visit daily and some occasionally - that really doesn't matter but it does make up the CCfan family!

Keith (the sites administrator) organizes two reunions each year that people from all over the country come too. Next summer, we even have a member coming in from Belgium!!

Put some pictures together, a story about yourself/boat and get it entered in the diaries. Keith will then post it.

As far as where to start, has the boat been winterized yet?

Glad you found the site. Congratulations on getting the boat.

Hey, you are already ahead of 75% of the boaters on the water!

Congrats on your purchase. You found the site, just not sure of any books you could get. Ask away with your questions. This place is full of advice (good & bad).

Welcome fellow Hoosier boater. Congrats on the boat. Ditto on the guys above. I have learned more from this site than any other single source. You will also find some very interesting conversations here as well. It's a good way to pass the time of our cold Indiana winters.

Jack,

I just noticed you copied and pasted your same first post here and posted it on PN. I hope we didn't scare you away!! Don't worry about John (jbear) wanting to see pictures of your girlfriend ether! He's just a harmless older gentleman besides, I really think his wife Patti keeps a close eye on him!

No, no, no, not scared away at all! You can just never have too many opinions, is all. I didn't know my copy-paste antics were going to cause such a ripple effect!

As for jbear, I will post pics of my boat and my girl soon, BOTH OF WHICH WILL BE COVERED!!! (sorry jbear).

Jack,
My guess is no one including myself knows where to start with getting you answers to your original question. Way too many areas we can go to! No matter, we glad you found CCfan.
