I saw that too Pete, a little excessive but I think the owner is in the business somehow and that boat is blinged to the max. Guess thats why they call this a hobby, I certainly have no room to criticise when it comes to being excessive with the boat haha.

Ps. I ordered the same setup for the Hurricane trailer so if your free saturday and want to lend a hand come on by. joke, joke relax. Looks like I will make it out to the ACBS open house saturday so see you there.

I'm happy when the brake lights and directionals work. Can't imagine signing up for all that extra maintenance. But, does go well with the wakeboard boat package.

Interesting link there, The guys got everything you need for your low rider, hydraulics, airbags, motorcycle frames and "Cell Phones"????? Whats up with that? I sense a Billy Mays commercial in there somewhere.

Pete, how many points deduction for LED trailer landing strip lights?

You gotta hand it to him, he does creative, quality work. He's named the boat "Bling Bling", it's never enough!

While I've seen much of his past work & it's all very good, even this is pretty good, I don't see the purpose... the lights are only on when the trailer's in the water. So if you know how to load/launch a boat, they'll be on for about what? 2 minutes tops? Seems like alot of work for nothing. i think it'd be better suited if he had run them down the side of the trailer, almost like running lights. Though they couldn't sequence as he was driving though, 'cause that'd be illegal.

Overall, cool, & very nice work as always, but i fail to see the point.

Saw that post as well, first thing I thought of was sequential turn signals like on some of those old Cougars and T-Birds, now that would be cool "Bling". No matter what he adds or changes it's always a first class job, gotta give him that.

Too much bling for me!

Someone got too much time and money on their hands! If it would make me ski better I'd do it.

Must be a generation thing. Guess I'm gettin' old.

It's interesting the assumptions that people make, most of which are wrong. I know Grant and have ridden in the bling bling red boat.

Bottom line, the guy is a music, video, and light fanatic. It is his hobby. He doesn't spend money he doesn't have, and he does 99% of the work himself. His business affords him a lot of free time during the day to do these projects. He has a super wife who is supportive of these projects.

Some guys like 32 model A's restored to their original glory. Some guys like their model A's chopped, lowered, painted with flames, electric windows, stereos, air conditioning, and blown Chevy engines.

No different with boats.

Well, now that I re-read this, it seems there are two red boats. The first belongs to Grant, the guy who did the landing stripe lights on his trailer. The second is a Malibu, and I don't know the guy.

Personally, I don't care for the flames, skulls, or LEDs. But, if you ever saw Grant's boat he does do some amazing work.

Brian,

I'm not dissing the guy, just poking fun at him. I've seen the posting's he has done on the web and am very impressed with his work. He is a talented guy and have no doubt that he is a nice guy too. I think you know that there are differences between the guy's here on CCfan and over on PN. We all give and recieve a "lil flexing' now and then. That's what makes this a great site.

Question for today:

"Is the Jbear really Santa in disguise?"

There haven't been ANY sightings now that Christmas is almost here.

Hey Hey now. No worries.

Lot's of folks out there with no clue, no taste, etc.

Just pointing out that for this one particular guy, he knows it's all over the top, but it's a lot of fun for him. Part of the fun for him is in outdoing the other guys he knows with the lights and stereo addictions.

Kind of reminds me of a few fellows I know trying to outdo each other with their engine mods.

Gaudy as heck and no where near, not even close, as nice as the CCF Boat.

Hot engine though. It's got a dry sump with an external oil tank. Who thought of that?

There is one of these on our lake. They guy that owns it has 3 Malibus. An earlier style(DD)corvette boat,a 2007 LSV wakeboat, and this new one.

Nice engine compartment, interior is ok, stereo is sick, it will pass my 210 like it's parked, and is most definately the UGLIEST hull I've seen on a ski(?) boat.Looks worse on the water than on the trailer,if you can believe it.Total failure IMO,and I like Vettes. The old DD version is waaaaay better looking.

Can't say I don't like it but I probably wouldn't own one. The shape reminds of an older I/O checkmate which I always thought were typical run of the mill crap.

I guess if you have 3 boats one of them might as well be just for screaming around because I couldn't see it as a practical ski boat. Once again to each his own.

Not practial for me either. I think they built these for the boat collecter not the skiers.
I liked the older DD version much better.

I figure the owner of Malibu is a Corvette guy. It is good advertising though. The one they had at the Boston boat show last year really drew crowds.

Alan, I'd rather go 60 in your boat than that thing. If I were going to spend 100k to go fast, it would be faster than 60.

   Bruce,

Pretty sure the one on our lake is the boat that was at the Boston show. At least that is the assumption that the owner had.
I agree with Alan,to each his own.It just looks really bland on the water.I think the black is sharper looking. Obviously the guy wasn't concerned about the price. Maybe if I had that kind of expendable cash I would feel differently. At more than twice what I paid for my SAN,I just don't see the value. For that price,it should come with a working convertible top . There is an older version green(DD) on our lake also, that this guy used to own......obviously a big Malibu & Corvette fan.He also owns a nice Donzi.

Mike, the boat show price was only $100k. That was with the boat show discount of $25k. The stereo is nice. At the show, I know the guy that had the display right across the aisle from it, and everytime the Malibus guys cranked up the stereo, he couldn't talk to his customers. He was getting PO'd.

The DD version is much nicer, but still a little too much bling for me, although the chrome underwater gear is pretty nice.

I think the Corvette boat is pretty representative of their whole line up now. In the early 2000's, I think they were making great looking boats. Now they're just gaudy and overdone.
