My 85 ski nautique has taken some scratches on the gel coat from an old dock that had screws sticking out. Is there an easy way to get the scratches out.

Wet sand the area with a fine sandpaper then increase the grit to at least 1000,1200 or more then buff. Be sure to keep the area wet at all times as you sand or you'll just make it worse. If the scratches are deep then you may need to do fill in the damage with a gel-coat repair kit. Just be sure to add the tint a little at a time to gfet as close to original as possible being sure to mix more than you need so that you can use it again in the future if need be.

Start with 1200 grit sandpaper then use 3m part number 6039 and 5928 polishing compounds. Also, order the correct buffing pads for the polishing compounds.

Yes, and preferably use a sander/grinder to buff, not those gai car buffers.
