http://www.suntimes.com/business/1376369,CST-FIN-oldstyle14.article - Old Style goes back to old recipe
Old Style is going premium! Can't wait to taste the original recipe that grown-ups used to enjoy when I was a kid. This could be my new go-to beer. Although I certainly enjoyed the cheap 30's of "Old Pile" and their "dirt+beer" recipe in college, I won't be sad to see it go.

I like how they put Coors and Bud in the "premium" category. Blue Moon has become my go-to beer, simply for the fact that it is a full flavored beer, and on tap everywhere around here. If you see the Bud product "American Ale" give it a try. IMO it's got a great taste, especially coming from A-B.

I like the Sam Adams Cherry Wheat, great flavor for the summer.

Blue Moon would not be my first choice for a Belgian Wit style beer. Although it's pretty popular, it's not a great example of a Wit beer. Try http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/83/248/ - Hoegaarten or Unibroue's http://www.unibroue.com/graphs_our_beers/blanche_de_chambly.html - Blanche de Chambly if you get a chance. I could drink either of those beers all day.

Somebody better take away all the knives in the house if they ever change the Coors Light formula.

Sign me up CQ! Like Tull, Im a beer goat- I appreciate the good stuff and usually prefer it, but Ill drink just about anything. My 2 favorite types are "free" and "cold". I do like the fact that PBR is the only American owned 30pack I can buy around these parts, at least to my knowledge.
Joel, Im with you on the Hoegartten, but BM is a nice substitute, especially for the price. Its one of our staples in the summer. Their summer brew isnt bad either.

Q
PBR is huge around these parts. I think it started with the 20 somethings trying to go old school. A couple years back, myself and a few buddies went to a Reverend Horton Heat concert at a small venue in Detroit. There were two huge coolers bhind the bar. One had a mixture of beers, I started with Bells Two Hearted Pale Ale. The other cooler had nothing but PBR. By the end of the night, the PBR cooler was empty, and we helped empty it. My cottage, and my buddies cottage down the street, always have PBR.
Go to beers;
Summer- Bells, Oberon
Rest of the year- Bells Two Hearted
Favorites- Dragonmead, Final Absolution
- Shorts, Huma Lumalicious
BTW, these are all Michigan beers. I like to support the Michigan economy any way I can.

Tim, try some http://www.yuengling.com/ - Yuengling if you can find it. I always have the Light Lager in the fridge. I start getting nervous if it runs low! It's a really good beer at a very competitive price. Heck, most of the time it's cheaper than the no longer fully American owned Bud/Miller/Coors.

You got it right there. I adore Belgian beers. If it's from Belgium, and especially if it's brewed by monks, it's got to be good.

Terp, I love Yeungling, especially the lager. I used to drink it in college all the time. Unfortunately, they dont distribute it to CT or MA.
HW, given the choice of any 30pack beer, Ill take the American one because none of them are very good! Im with Joel, I love Belgian style wheat beers.

OLD STYYYYLE... OLD STYYYYYYYLITE- I remember hearing the guy at Wrigley stadium yelling that out.
Too funny.
Joel, I had a New Belgium Mothership Wit the other night. It was pretty darn tastey, but that was after a handful of PBRs

I just finished a six pack of Bell's Hopslam ale. Took six days of drinking one bottle a day to take it down. 17.00 per six pack. Absolutely hop-licous. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/287/17112 - Bell's Hopslam

When I lived in San Diego in the mid 80s, I had several friends from Chicago. Couldn't buy Old Style in SD. One of the guys used to keep a case of Old Style in the fridge, which was off limits. He always said when the end of the world was near, he would climb up on the roof, enjoy the view, and drink his last case of Old Style. Not kidding. That case
of Old Style sat in the fridge all three years I lived down there.

So, I see we have another IPA fan. Joel, I love the Hopslam, just wish they would pour a bigger glass. I'm a huge Bell's fan, the Christmas ale is almost done in the kegerator. If you can get your hands on, or find a brew pub that carries Short's Hum Lupa Licious, try it. I compare it to being thrown from a horse and your foot gets caught in the stirrup. Your dragged through a field with your mouth open, but it's in a good way.
