Hi guys,
What size shaft packing do I need for the
drive shaft and rudder stuffing boxes on my
66 mustang? Is it 1/4" or 3/16"? The old packing
Is so broken down I can't tell what size it used
to be.
As always thanks for the help!

Pat

On a 66, it should be 1/4". Measure the gap between the shaft and the ID of the gland to be sure or take a 1/4" and 3/16 drill bit and see which one fits.

On our 68, the rudder box did not like the 1/4"     I think the shaft is 1/4 and the rudder is 3/16.
Pat, I live near St Cloud. Would love to see your boat sometime.
