What do you all think? I just saw this thing....I think it's kinda big and ugly. Personally, I like the low profile boats and think this is a sad attempt at a crossover boat. Looks like the big awkward kid on the block!

What do you all think? I think I love my Correct Crafts!

It's a tub. It's mind boggling that they discontinued the Sportster and are doing their best to kill the Response, and then they come up with that, and at $45k to boot. The free board on that boat is about twice what it is on the Sportster.

Glad I'm not the only one who thinks it's hideous! I'm CC all the way, but those older sportesters and flightcrafts were sweet looking boats.....now they're most comparable with the Spruce Goose!

I keep coming back to this thread hoping someone has posted a picture of the said ugly boat so i can agree with everyone else without doing the work myself & googling it. Yet, somehow that hasn't happened... bummer. I'll keep waiting...

Same hull but VD version of fxi

fxi

Sportster

Sportster and fxi are about the same length, but the fxi is about 3' tall off the water. I saw it at the boat show and it is massive.

My friend bough a 08' Vride, pretty sweet boat, the only issue so far is the gelcoat is really brittle, it has a few deep scratches so far from docking.

The other day we were discussing it's hull, I told him that him that I clearly saw that hull used a lower deck and that probably it was a ski boat sometime ago, therefore that hull design had it's years, I know the 05-08 Vrides used the 96-04VLX hull, does anyone know if it goes back even more?

Sounds like MasterCrafts use of their hulls to make the early Xstars, sportstars, 19 skier and such. When I think of a slalom boat I think of fast, sleek lines. Not the case with these new beasts!

I'm glad CC hasn't caved into all the Wakeboard looking lines with their slalom boats! Makes me proud to be a Correct Craft Fan!

The FXI is a huge boat but it has a great slalom wake. Seriously. We were playing around with one of these, an 09, late last year and we were all impressed with it. I bleed AME 5000 resin, but I must say that Malibu knows how to build a large boat with a good slalom wake. The FXI and RLXI prove it with aplomb.

Not my cup of tea. But with that being said, i don't think it's any uglier than any new wakeboard boat made by any boat company now days (CC included) Though, of course it's nowhere near the SN196 which is still the best looking new boat out there. Something beautiful about the closed bow & those classic lines. Kinda like the porsche 911... can't really improve too much on something asthetically that was basically perfect when it was introduced.

Nate, I couldn't agree more!
IMHO, you hit the nail right on the head...

Well, I got a mail from Nautiques in my mailbox about the all new crossover 226...
That's also a big boat... Not really my style.
And, I can't say that I'm a big fan of their new style towers....

You do have to recognize the fact that Malibu's FXI and MasterCraft's 214 are big, family friendly boats and still put out a respectable slalom wake. The masses have been begging for this for a long time, big boat -> small wake.

Exactly. And they've cast aside the core customers that put them on the map.

Riley, lots of love for the Sportster still out there, slalom skiers and barefooters alike. Maybe one day it'll make a comeback.

The SN 196 is the last core ski boat, built for 1 purpose (well 3 actually...).

Malibu apparently knows where the moneys at, but they've lost me. There's a minority of people that like traditional boats over at themalibucrew.com that aren't thrilled with the way they've gone and claim a SN will be their next boat, so it's good for Correct Craft. My kids don't even get excited over their boats anymore. Maybe CCF has something to do with it?

I feel bad for those Malibu guys. They made a couple great boats, but most didn't last very long and have been since discontinued. I think Bill Yeargin's comments on his latest inverview were really true. Correct Craft is a sign of stability and I believe they are gaining market share in the hardcore slalom-specific ski community. If I ran a ski club or school I'd get tired of dialing in a whole new boat every few years.
