Being Airguide is no longer, does anybody know if other brand stabilzer tubes work with the airguides? And if so where could they be located. I called skidim today about this and they said good question. Not what I wanted to here. ------------- 68 Mustang |

Looks like someone should re make all of the airguide stuff from the speedos , stabilizer tubes to the pick ups that mount on the tansom
JWA Bought out Airguide in 1997 then ran it into the ground . These are the best Speedos you could get

Just got my boat out of winter storage. I pulled out my stabilzer tube and looked it over. It looks like the tube is just a piece of 3/4 inch pipe with small connectors on each end. The thing is hollow inside.I guess it is just an air gap between the pitot and the speedo. The one I pulled out is made of brass but I will make mine out of copper pipe. I hope this will work. | Look at them as shock absorbers...just a large volume of air that can compress to eliminate needle fluctuations. Kind of like dumbing down the response time. I would think that any tube would work the same regardless of manufacturer. |

I have a few extra eq. tubes. There are two styles: 1. Old style with the pitot on a swing style block, and banjo bolt mounted on the bottom of the tube. 2. straight tube with a 1/8" barb fitting on both ends. the measurements on the latter are: 10" long 7/8" diameter, with a 1/8" barb 1/2" long. Try a hand held G.P.S. they work great, other wise you have to measure off of the bank and use a stop watch, and hold a steady throttle. I had a airguide calibration chart that went off the first and second bouys on a slolom course. you go through at 35 mph, start the stopwatch at the first bouy, stop the watch at the second bouy, and the amount of seconds elapsed tells the actual speed with a variance. I got some new original speedo kits from the 60" with the tubes. In fact one kit has thru hull bronze pitot"s. | To calibrate the speedo, hook the pickup tube to an air source. At 17psi the speedo guage should be calibrated by turning the knob to 36mph |
