Is wire re enforced USCG type A2 fuel hose satisfactory for replacing the packing hose?

That is what I used. Heat it up in boiling water real good before you put it on. It is an absolute biatch to get on there unless you do. Guess how I know.......

Thanks for the tip. How'd you think to boil it in water?
First day yesterday that we were able to wheel the boat out of the garage and work on it. The hose that was on there was the original one. I thought it would be hard to remove, but it tore right off. It was pretty decayed.

Boat dr. after that fact... He also said to beat the ever loving daylights out of the hose to soften it. After the fact...

I used Dawn dish detergent.The hot water might have made it even easier! Cave men... put your hammers away!!
