So I got the pump off and the impeller out, however I made a huge mistake and did not look how it came off. I do not want to pump water out of my engine!! I like the water going into the engine. any help would be appreciated....

That impeller looks bad.
Is it a RH or LH rotation?
If it is RH the screw should point away from the block.

I know I ordered a new one off white lake. I guess one of there locations burnt down. I felt bad...but not as bad as I did for my engine when I saw that impeller...I do not know the rotation but I have not looked at it much my goal was to get the pump off and get a new one ordered.

Hose hookups should go against engine block side.

Yes, White Lake's Graham, NC location had a fire and they moved that store to Belews Creek, NC. This a Lake that is North of Greensboro, NC. They still have their main store in White Lake, NC.

Would not hurt to change that wear plate too while you have it apart

guys, quick question here. I just remove my impeller and found exactly what is shown on picture #3 here. most impeller kits I saw online have the o-ring AND gasket. is the gasket required, or is it just to accommodate other pumps as well?
and also what / where is that wear plate?!
thanks
thanks

All the Sherwood pumps I have seen and that was only 3 they just used the o-ring. Maybe the paper one goes on the housing side of the wear plate?? Someone who has one will chime in I'm sure. Look at picture #3 the wear plate is that kind of triangular plate with the large hole in the center of it and with the shaft going thru, sitting on the very top of the housing

I have read and strongly believe that it does not matter which way the fins point when you put it back together. They will flip over if needed when pulley turns the shaft.

The Sherwood kits fit multiple pumps and the reason they include O rings and gaskets. The last one I did was the dual cavity on my 312. It uses the gaskets.

I have a Sherwood like the one above. The kit I had came with the paper gaskets, and found one that fit on the same mating surface as the o ring. I used it but it's probably not doing anything. Doesn't seem to be hurting anything though.
If the impeller is new, it probably doesn't matter. I'd be hesitant to flip around an impeller that already has it's vanes set like that. My old one had set vains, and all sort of tiny cracks in the vanes. It looked like it wouldn't like to start going the other way. Of course, just put in a new one anyway.

So the new impeller kit I got online only came with the gasket, no O-ring.
Can anyone tell me the dimensions so I can shop for one online?
Thanks again for advice.

Use your old oring. Don't tighten the bolts too much. Same with the mount bolts.

I thought you might be out of luck trying to buy it without the impeller, but I guess they sell it.
As far as shipping, Karen has told me before that small stuff like that they can put in an envelope, so shipping would be cheaper than what the online store says.

| Did you get a Sherwood kit or the Sierra? The later has been known to have issues. It's pretty much a junk off shore "knock off". Stick with the OEM.
Dimensions? Do you have a tape measure?

well I got the sherwood... and a major brain fart.
after opening the box today I saw the gasket turned into a o-ring.
still can't figure it out. I'm pretty convinced of the mutation, I blame in on the gasket fairy
so got my caliper an measured. a new o-ring for this pump is 2.750" OD by about 0.070" thick.
just in case some of you don't get a visit by the gasket fairy, at least you know!!
