I found the original gelcoat touch up for my
1989 boat all three colors. When I opened the jars the gelcoat is very thick like tar.
Is there a solvent I can add to thin it out.
I tried a small sample with acetone it seems
to work but I'm not sure about trying it on the boat. Does anyone have any experience with gelcoat?

Michael,
I answered this over on PN but incase you miss it, the preferred solvent is styrene.

On PN, you didn't say you were trying to use the original 89 touch up that came with the boat. I did ask you how old it was. THROW IT OUT!!!!

Michael,

Pete is right. There is a shelf life for the gel coat.
