This may be a touchy subject as I may completely change the configuration of my dash. The factory plastic/vinyl dash is broken and ripped. With alot of fiberglass reinforcement on the back and a possible recover from the uppolstry shop I may be able to salvage it. After removing the old dash I saw that the fiberglass underneath it looked really good that got me to thinking. What if I got rid of the vinyl dash altogether and mounted the guages and switches in the glass underneath? I think it would look really good if I could cut all the holes in the right spots. Has anyone tried this before? The factory dash is not available from CC anymore and I doubt if anyone wants to sell me the dash out of their boat. When I removed the vinyl and buffed the dash my wife didn't even notice that it was removed. I think it would turn out clean enough that only you guys would notice it was different. Any oppinions?

Joe,
What boat do you have? How about some pics so we can give you a good opinion.

I would check with Paul first before you start cutting it might be easier to get a used cover to replace yours and It wouldn't supprize me if one was laying around at someones house waiting for a new home.

If you have a 90 you can get the pod repaired.   DavidF had a nice repair job on his done a few weeks ago, for his 99SAN.   He did a post on PN about it under maintenance.
