My brother just rebuilt 302 Ford for '65 Barracuda (we bought it with no engine). We're installing engine, and engine tilt looks like it will put most of oil too far back in the pan - hence up on crankshaft. Should this take a special (marine)oil pan? and where do we get one?

Many thanks. You boat freaks rule.

The oil pan on the 351W marine engine (center sump) is the same pan used on the ford econoline van, I am not sure if the 302 pan is the same. Look for a center sump 302 pan and you will be fine. Dont forget to install the correct oil pickup tube also.

Most I've seen are at least 6 quart oil pans. Is your new engine reverse rotation?

Keep in mind that a 302 and 351 pan are not interchangable. So be sure and get a 302 pan.
