Subject: Missing Exhaust Part!

I have just picked up a 1989 S/N and the outside part of my exhust where the flapper attaches is missing. I have read many of the threads on this site but I have not seen one in refference to this one in particular. I have contacted Correct Craft and the part is no longer made.
Therefore my search has begun for missing part # S8305. This is the fiberglass piece that slides into the ring off the back transom that holds the flapper(single exhaust. Any Help???
Is it possible to just add a piece of schedule 80 pvc and attach clamps and flappers to it?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

John - You can get a new round outlet from Marineexhaust.com. Then you can use a clamp-on flapper. The outlet costs about $30. I changed mine so I could put the fresh air exhaust on. It was not hard to change.
Use plenty of 5200 so it doesn't leak.
Good luck!
PS - Now that I looked at it twice, your outlet doesn't look like the original anyway.

You have an 89 with Single? I'd be looking for a polished stainless of chrome w/internal flapper. BTJM

John my 89 SN2001 had a damaged outlet as well. I ended up repairing it. Have attached pic to show you how they look standard.
I did try and source a replacement they were Vetus Transom Exhaust connections for 102mm ID exhaust hose. I never went as far as measuring the id of exhaust hose as repaired outlet worked OK.

I may be the one without an original outlet.
Here is a picture of what was on the boat when I bought it 2 years ago, I assumed it was original. It has integrated mounting for a flapper.

Chris, Do you still have this part? If you have not installed it, does the piece that holds the flapper come apart from it's housing? That is what I need.
Maybe I should just just replace the whole thing and be done with it. The new parts from CC are easy to get. It is the how to do it and how hard will it be to change this out. The hose clamps inside are easy to get to. The question is how hard will it be to get the part out???

Getting the old one out won't be a problem since you're not going to be reusing it. Hammer, chisel, saw, grinder, etc. Install the new one with 3M 5200. No silicone!!

Pete, thanks for your input. What do you think about putting in a piece of exhaust and connecting the flapper to it? Will this cause any restrictions? I really do not want to take it all apart for something that might be an easy fix.
Thoughts?

You're thinking about just finding the "tail piece" - just the round that came off the flanged assembly that's still on the transom? That sure would work if you can find it. It wouldn't restrict the flow anymore than original. I'd epoxy it to the existing. I mentioned the 5200 to use if your were going to replace the complete through hull exhaust in the transom.

John - The exhaust outlets I showed is all one pc. If you decide to change it, I suggest 1st cleaning you stern bilge area very well, because you will be face down in it reaching for the rear exhaust hose clamp. After that fun, then use putty knives, one on each side, to separate the coupler from the hull. Once you have a gap going, tap plastic tapered window shims under it to get it free.
So your idea of gluing a section inside sounds like alot less work!

After all the fear of not knowing what and or how to solve my problem, my son and I decided to dive in last night and remove the old piece and have ordered and new from CC. Not as hard as expected, actual was a lot easier that I had thought. Thanks for all your help. Will be posting pics soon.
