Could someone please clarify on how to correctly shift an inboard boat.

before someone drives my boat i always preach that when shifting from forward to reverse ( or vice versa ) that you should let the boat sit in nuetral for a few seconds before shifting into reverse. that way it's not so hard on the tranny and the prop has time to stop spinning or at least slow down. now, in an emergency do what you have to do cause we all know safety comes first.

what do you think?

Lol@Buff! Transmissions can be replaced and be repaired. The human body and life often not.

good practice to stop momentum except for emergency, and some guys go from dead neutral to full power, that really puts a hurting on the trans

The damper plate will not last long with quick shifting.
