Blew a hose this weekend on our 94 Nautique. Not that big of a deal. But we noticed on the other exhaust manifold where the non-blown hose connects to the muffler, that the previous owner must have used (what looks like) JB Weld to bind the hose to the muffler. Now, it has deveoped a slow leak. I can show you pictures if someone can tell me how to post a pic that is over the 500mb size limit.

A couple of questions:
1) I'd like to replace both hoses at the same time. What can I use instead of the JB Weld? I imagine that there was a crack where the hose clamps to the muffler which no amount of hose clamps could contain so they lapped a bunch of JB Weld on there to seal it up.

2) What size of Hose do I need to replace the blown one on a 5.8L PCM? I didn't measure it before I put it back in storage and its over a half hour away.

Thanks fellas and bear with me while I try to get pictures up.

your muffler inlets are probably cracked..if so you can repair them using epoxy resins and fiberglass, that would be a permanent fix if done properly...
now you should worry on why did the engine backfire so hard that it blew the hose....
Actually a blew both hose and muffler a couple of times!!!! welcome to the club!!!

Hmmm. We did have a backfire while decellerating a few weeks ago . . . I actually wasn't driving the boat when the hose blew (I know, I know) but the driver didn't mention any major backfire.

Thanks for the help. Any recommendations on the epoxy resin or good resources for the procedure would certainly be welcome.
