Just going to change my plugs which i got last year but didn't put in and when i compared the existing ones (autolite 24 ) with the new NGk's i noticed that when compared, although the thread and the part in the engine was identical ie the reach, the bit sticking up on to the lead was considerably shorter eg see piccie . how do i ensure I am fitting the correct plugs the ones i have been given are NGK R     BR6FS
I guess they are a hotter plug than the Autolite ? or is it just difference in length due to different spec materials / thermal conductivity etc.

trying to put photo on next post

The Autolite 24's are the correct plugs... why change to something else?

I have BPR6FS in mine and they seem to burn pretty well.

Yes, when I got by mistake a set of Autolites 144 and I noted they were quite larger than the NGKs.

I would have stuck with autolite cos thats what came with the boat but my localsupplier ( here in the UK ) supplied me with the NGK's   and as the autolites seemed Ok I left them in and decided to hold on to the NGK's until Autolites are ready for replacement presumably they have quite a life in hrs compared to a motor car ???? car wise NGK have a good reputation Autolite i have never heard of before

Thanks for the input guys
