My boat is a 1975 Mustang 16 with the Ford PCM 302/4bbl carb.. Everything is stock and in good mechanical condition. My question is: Has anyone upgraded their points distributor to an electronic spark? The distributor is a Mallory YL-512DV and Mallory makes e-spark drop in kit. I have not yet had problems running the points and I am not pulling alot of high RPMs - just curious if anyone has performed this upgrade and if they see the benefit in spending the $180-$200 in parts and a little time or just leave it alone and perform some routine maintenance keeping the points adjusted for optimal performance.

Many people on here have done the conversion, it's one of the most common around. If yours running good and you dont mind the maintenance of the points, I'd say leave it that way. This coming from someone who did the convertion.
