Not a very good example. Have a couple of beers, it'll be OK! LOL
If he would have kept his mouth shut, it would have never got to this point. They didn't even drink GOOD beers, and the sad thing is we paid for it ALL. We'll be paying for this guy for many generations. My .02

Well had it been me I would have said no beer please, Jager Bombs for me! An I wouldn't have worn a suit, would have been shorts, Colts T-shirt and Flip Flops. Plus I would have asked that we all have hammocks!

No really I would have said "Sir I will just have a coke", been wearing my Dress Whites with Medals and sat at attention the whole time....Oh the life of a lowly Sailor!

And as a Belgian, when beer is involved...

OK the white guy holding the beer is a cop who responded to a call at a residence. When he arrived the older colored guy to the right was at the house(it was his house). The cop arrested him and got labled a biggot. Turns out the Colored guy is a World Renowned Harvard Professor. So to ease the tension the President and Vice President had them both over to the White house for some beers to talk it out.

That is the simple version. If you want to read more go to CNN.com and it's all over there.

OK, so I did some reading...
If you ask me, there are indeed more important things to worry about. But... there have always been and there will always be more important things...
To me, nothing wrong with discussing a problem over a beer, may it be between two regular Joes at the local bar or the president.
Even the president is allowed to get away from the global and national problems and sit back for a few moments behind a brew. He even combined this moment with two people who had some serious media attention.
Quite a few problems have been solved faster over a beer than on an official debate...

I am pretty confident that Obama went back to the bigger problems a few hours later...
I would say cut the guy some slack and stop expecting miracles from him.

It's Obama's relentless persuit of looking like the common man, and getting more casual face time.
I must have missed when he sat down with the Big 3 over a couple of Johnny Walker's to discuss the problems with the American auto industry.

Biden- Bud

I think this, in a very figurative manner, shows that there are other simplier ways of discussing stuff and getting people to understand each other, avoiding the media debated and speech scalades.
They all cooled down, wich is what should have been done in the first place.

Now I know an ex president of yours who would have bombed the police head quarters and invaded the entire state looking for a dangerous man.

sorry I couldnt help it.

We have these money suckers:

Cash for Clunkers

TARP Funds

Health care reform.

Cap and Trade

I don't know where BO is getting all of this money from. Instead of drinking a beer Obama should be learning how to balance a budget.

After all that they agree to disagree. Thank goodness we have fixed the economy, health care and immigration so they had time to deal with this crisis. What a load of crap. The libs all complained Bush could not speak, but he never had to appologize for what he said.

why doesnt anyone complain about the 10 Billion a month going into Iraq and Afganistan? a couple billion for the cash for clunkers is a damn good idea...this shows me, thats a program to spur the stalled economy and maybe put some fellow Americano's back to work with the incentive of fuel efficiency...Luch, what do you think, I always ask you because you have no tie's to this country and i see it as an unbiased opinion

I think the unjust action was accusing the officer of racism before knowing the facts. Inexcusable. At that moment and time, the police officer was outed on a world wide stage. I couldn't imagine what a invasion of privacy like that would be. He had his anonymity taken from him and he did not ask for that, unlike most celebrity/political whores.

My most collaborated accounts, the professor was behaving belligerently. His actions caused his arrest. The officer was following procedure and is/was a trainer for racial sensitivity.

In the end, we have 2 prominent black leaders make mistakes and accuse a white officer of racism. NEITHER ONE APOLOGIZED! The officer then was a prop in a photo-op and received two dollars worth of beer. Wow!

Racism will not end. Too much power and money in the business of racism.

PS. Biden was not scheduled to attend. He was added at the last minute so it didn't seem like two black guys against one white guy. They had it right the first time: 1-1/2 black guys and 1-1/2 white guys.

I *************** hate politics.

One thing is to retaliate in self defense, another very different is to invade 2 countries for over 7 years? Dont you realize you cant extermine muslims and that you are just making it all worse?
what is it you seek over there? revenge maybe?
What does your constitution or your bible say about this kind of killing?

Do you ever consider you might be a bit offset on this matter? dont you think it all went off scale?

What happened on September 11 was a shame indeed... but you cant condenm 2 nations for the acts of a few, how much blood needs to be spilled until you get over it, how can you be any proud of what's being done over there? It's been 8 years since, you wont win this war.
Support your troops, get them home soon.

I dont have all the answers to your guestions. But I do for some, the old testiment says an eye for an eye. The new testiment is a little more forgiving, but Jesus did flip the tables at the temple when he saw injustice. The constitution says nothing about healthcare but it does give the authority and mandate to protect our borders and citizens. At the time the planes went into the towers I was near the end of a 20 year career as a emergency paramedic. Many responders that I think of as brothers gave their lives that day with the many innocent that had theres taken. A different building and it could have been me or my friends and family. Off scale or off target can certainly be argued, I would hate to have to make such decisions. What is enough? What is to much? I have vivid recolletions of the second plane hitting live on national TV, and the days after of silent skies as all air traffic was grounded. I was glued to the coverage of the rescues and the stories of firefighters buried alive communicating on their radios with no hope of rescue. Much of this nation is starting to forget. I will not. I know that being a target does not leave a good impression. It remains to be seen how our current apologetic Presidents policies will affect our security in the future. Was this revenge, I dont think any act can erase the loss, and two wrongs do not make anything right. I do know the US has the power to level any of the countries involve and showed the restraint not to. What is the proper response to something like this? Should we have flown planes into someone elses buildings just to make it fair? The whole thing just sucks and never should happen. I have nothing against Muslims, I have a thing against cold blooded civilian targeting killers,no matter what their background might be. I am funny that way. Sorry. All things considered, I would rather be boating and not have to think about this garbage. I have never killed anybody. If only everyone could say that.

I googled earth my house yesterday and damn, I got a close up of my truck in the garage, i think we went into Iraq over false pretences. the same group (Bin Laden's) tried to blow the towers in 93, they didnt wake up in 01 and say lets run some planes into a building, hate runs deep, we have similar groups in this country (McVeigh's group) he is a US citizen, do you consider him an American or part of our group? I dont, these people hate the idea of what this country stands for, they did take alot of innocent people in all of these incidents, but as you said eye for en eye, were lucky because one thing the media wont do is saturate us with all the collarteral damage we cause in foriegn lands, its 10 fold, its a part of life. but we keep poking at a beehive, a beehive that has been around for thousands of years and thier beliefs are different than mine and yours, basically if you are a good Christin it would be like someone knocking ion your door and telling you your not going to be a Christian anymore, we want you to be a Mormon..that aint gonna happen, and its going to piss you off

These idiots will have one month to read and have it explained to them (yes there are some big words) and they will come back and vote still not knowing the contents of the bill.

This is his eigth month in office.Fools rush in where angels fear to tread. Obama had NO business commenting on this local issue other than he knew Gates and pre judged the situation. He blew it big time!! We have a one term president. The next president will be an independent. How's your dog, your victory garden and I'll bet that the White House is not at the 80 degrees that it was in the winter. I voted for this guy but I had no option. America is a sorry place!

Im sorry, but you had better options than this guy, Americans deserve better than some guy repeating hope and change and a media that does not bother to find out what that means. Eight months in and he is still campaigning against George Bush, it is his show now and the reviews are starting to stink.

prof Gates now has a comedy routine. While at a book signing on Marthas Vineyard (Obamas summer playground) he does a schtick about looking taller in his mug shot, getting arrested at the WhiteHouse, getting Crowley (the cop) kids into Harvard if he never gets arrested again. He also explains how relieved Crowley was when gates shook his hand. This clown is way past his 15 min of fame. has not been home yet because of the threats, had to shut down his website because it was overloaded with + & - comments. This ordeal(which he started by being uncooperative and ranting) has gone to his swollen head.

As for your Presidential choice, well if Obama has to leave office prematurely, Biden will get hiccups and have to resign and then we get Nancy Pelosi...... careful what you wish for!

Tull, I'm a little surprised by that. Road construction is about the only thing that has picked up around here. I have a 22 mile commute and 18 miles of it is road construction.

Supposedly there's 48 Billion being doled out for infrastructure, I sure hope you get at least a little piece of it.

You damn libs never stop complaining. Had GW not done anything and sat down to "talk" with Saddam and Osama, you would be calling him a *************** and screaming bloody murder (that is if you were still alive because we probably would have just got attacked again, maybe your city this time, or maybe Argentina). He acts strongly to protect the nation, with the approval of congress (not a super majority) I might add, and you crucify him for that.

I think W's biggest mistake was going too soft after his first term. Had the cowboy version of Bush finished what he started, this $hit might be over by now.

Bush was not perfect by any means, but he got dealt a $hitty card 8 months after taking office and had to deal with more than any other president since FDR. Also, we had a pretty freakin good economy for 7 of his 8 years and a lot of this could have been avoided if more people would have listened to him.

is there a fine line between dictatorship and democracy? all that debt that was created during those great years, was legally stolen, if you had 100k in an IRA, they reached in and clipped it for 40k or more. the so called good economy was created on paper not liquid, if you had 10 credit cards you maxed them out, over mortgaged your house, payed for your house with borrowed money......
you need to know the difference between a good economy and perception, it was easy to go to the bank and borrow money with a signature.
I always gauge the economy by the cash in my pocket.....and lately i have a little cash in my pocket, free and clear btw

You might have a point there Eric...except that we live in a representative republic. There's also a big difference between democrat and democratic.

When Congressmen spend half of their time running for the next election and we have people voting for a living, we may end up as a democracy.

im still trying to decipher why we went into Iraq, or is that he and not we,
to me its pretty cut and dry, using the excuse of WMD, we sold them thier weapons cache, just pull up an inventory list, scroll down
it was for me and not we.
the media creates the hate persona to justify walking in and TRYING to control an uncontrollable situation, meanwhile in our backyard you rent a U-Haul fill up with fertilizer pull it up in front of a building and hit a switch, it baffles me that no one gives 2 thoughts about the hate that is inside the walls of this country, meanwhile everyone runs around screaming they blew up our buildings. well guess what, the same "types" work with me and you everyday. these are well organized hate groups.
im not one to be lead by a 19 inch piece of glass with pretty faces, i see *************** for what it is, if you are pounded with enough information.....you start to believe it

Thats how we got our current president, the media feed us hope and change without investigating what that might be.
I think I know why we went into Iraq, It was a country with bad things going on, that looked on paper to be an easy victory, that would send a message to other countries that would be more difficlt to battle. We executed the invasion brilliantly but screwed the occupation. I think it was a good tactic that suffered from bad management. What do you do when you are attacked by a group, not a country and they fly planes into your buldings. There is no precedent for handling that situation. Do nothing and you are a weak taget, fight back and you are overeaching your authority. It is easy to sit back with hindsite and armchair quarter back. I think the guy followed his convictions and did his best.BY the way, Is he still running? The current administration is dissmanteling everything this country was built on. Our constitution lead us to a success never before achieved in such a short time, why do we want to mess with that success. The recipe is there to be followed, socialism has never achieved similar results. So what should we do? Duuuhhhhh.

I could name 10 countries that have alot worse going on, Africa, Kosovo, Serbia, north Korea..Im sure Kristoff has been exposed to the going ons in these countries...
Bombing Ok city was no different, no one has that building tattooed on thier back, that was a hate group, why are we not on that band wagon? that is a group that lives inside our walls..
If sand was a commodity, we would have a presence in Africa...and they could put thier machete's away

Embargo's instead of bombing? on the flipside, no food no oil...We have strong Alliances with oil producing countries, they are little blips with no protection, you step into Kuwait your going to have problems, and they did.......were not messing with success, we are protecting our investment, plain and simple

Eric - I agree with you - We went to war in Iraq to assure oil access. Oil is the lfeblood of our nation & we haven't fought the last battle over it either.

I fully admit, I am part of the problem - have a V8 truck so I can haul my V8 boat to the water just for fun.

Just being honest, no plan to change.

relying comes with a price, you can start to see the shift and thoughts, they stalled for years with electric power, hydrogen power, and the reserves are low, Dubai is gearing up for tourism to replace income...you suck a couple billion barrels a day out of the ground for 30 years...its going to run out
we'll suck theier very last barrel and say see ya chumps   lol

Eric - It's not quite that simple (see ya later). The Oil Sheiks have reinvested their $ earnings in USA properties. They will still manipulate us for a long time.

to change our thoughts here, i was having a couple with the neighbor, well last Halloween i was going house to house with the kids and my wife and i noticed these lights about 200 yards away over the trees, i would say it was about 500 foot long and it hovered about 50ft above the trees and it was dead silent and moved very slowly..i was thinking logically trying to figure out what it was and never mentioned it again because of sanity reasons, I went on to tell my neighbor, he about sht, he seen the same thing but when he saw it it shot straight up and was gone....i cannot explain what it was, but damn, i come up with crazy sht, but what i saw wasn't from around here

Maybe we can make sure it has healthcare no matter what the cost. I am sure they can not fend for themselves.

well, I think Eric should tell us more about what he saw and then we ALL can decide if we bomb them, invade them, help some subersive group take over their planet, sell them a Mc Donalds franchise, ask them to star on Hollywood films or just take them to the lake skiing.

Eric told us what he saw, the issue is how much information is required to make a decision, and what happens if your in charge and chose not to decide, then the worst happens and you are to blame.I would not want to be the guy to have to make those descisions either. It asks for a little more respect for those that are called to serve, and a stronger responsibility for voters to really take a good look at the character and ideals and qualifications of those whom some of us pick to rule the free world. Is hope and change enough of a qualification?

So we are yet to know if they are comunists.... so what we need here is an space rocket with the following.

-5 different fast food franchises know how.
-3 Brands Luxury cars
-Do it all cell phones, Gps devices, laptops, netbooks, Ipods and most electronic garbage you find nowadays in any person's personal gear.
-drawn instructions for all of the above
-Baywatch videos.

Now, when they get our package... if they split it, we send the nukes, if some individual tries to take it all, that's the man to talk to.

By the way, the above list is up to debate, wow, I already need a gabinate!!! guess what, you are all in it!!!

Eric,Years ago when I was young and single I saw an equally young and sigle Sandra Bullock in a restaurant booth. It was a memorable sighting but I knew it was not likely to be repeated. Despite the desire to hold onto the strong fascination, I moved on. Just a story I wanted to share. Dave.
