Well, I cannot express the... amazement I felt today when I was checking the engine before covering the boat... I saw this little amount of liquid over the intake side, wich I was sure was not gasoline, so I guessed it could be oil or some water that condesated on the engine box as I cleaned it and it reappeared after a few outings...
So I cleaned it with some tissue paper, and the fluid in question was particulary green/blueish... it was on the intake ports below the coil so next I took a close glance to the coil, a 6 months old Accel 8140C, wich costed me some real nice bucks, and I saw how it dripped from the cable pin female... I really,.. really never expected this to happen...
I guess it's time to put the old Bosch red labeled coil back in, what a pity it's not chromed.

Or go back to points and the original coil!
BTW, just to inform anyone who knows that I've been running a 28 year old point set in my 312 (as well as plugs, cap, condenser and rotor) I finally broke down and bought new. They will go in my next trip up north!

Hey Pete, the Bosch is what came in the boat when I bought it, but I must tell you that I was tired of messing with points and now I'm tired of messing with coils...

Luch,
I thought you had one of the EI conversions in the distributor!! You must be getting bad point sets down there!!

Yes I do have the Prestolite EI installed, the boat came with a Bosch red labeled coil (wich is considered pretty good around here) When I switched to the EI I decided to invest in a better coil and the Accel is the best one you can get around here. I have not had problems with the EI module... at least yet. I have other ignition issues like advance getting stuck after a ride, I checked the rotor doesnt come all the way back I guess due to some shaft play.
It seems the coil female is defective, since I'm 100% positive I didnt leave the key on the on position.
The guy I bought the coil said he cant give me a new coil but can try to have it fixed. He also suggested installing it vertically so it does not drip anymoe... I said NO WAY.
