Hey hope I am not out of line asking this question, if it is maybe someone could steer me to the right place. I am trying to save a little coin by making my own light bar. fabrication is not a problem, wiring is. I drew a line drawing of my bar with the lights, I just need someone to draw the wiring in to a 3 way switch (up... 2 lights, middle... off, down... all on) I will try and find some kind of waterproof plugs so I can take it off the tower and take the whole tower off the boat. I am also going to put rubber grommets in the holes I drill on the tower and boat gunnels. If I can see it on paper I will know what wire to string threw the tower tubing. Thanks for any help.

Arthur,
Sorry I don't have a scanner nor are my computer skills great to create a actual diagram. I'll try to describe the wiring at the switch.

You'll need a DPDT (double pole double throw) center off switch. This is really two switches (two sets of contacts) activated by one handle/toggle. Hold the switch so the toggle handle moves up and down then we'll call the left 3 terminals one contact and the right 3 terminals the other contact.

You're hot feed (+) from the fuse will go to both common terminals which should be in the center.

Connect both the bottom right and top right terminals together and then to light set 1. This will turn light set 1 on in both the top and bottom handle/toggle position.

Now for light set 2, connect it to ether the top or bottom (doesn't matter) left side terminal. This will turn on light set 2 in only one of the handle/toggle positions.

If you still have a problem following my written description, I'm sure one of our members will be along who can draw a diagram. Tim?? You're good at the diagrams!

Seen alot of people put lights on thier tower..and seen several recieve tickets for it as it violates USCC navigational lighting when used any time other than docking / loading / launching.

Sorry it took so long to get back to you. Thank you for your help with the wiring, I am going to take to tower off and work on it over the winter. I really am not that good with wiring stuff, but I think I can muddle through it. I really need to see it drawn out. Thanks for your help.
