What's up? I thought you just got the Swinger and now you're looking for Tique or Mustang seats! BTW, you've got to get some pictures posted of the Swinger. We'd love to see it. I have two front seats out of a 1969 Mustang . They are original fiberglass ? shells with rotten wood bottoms and so so white vinal .I have the seat bottom cushions also . The bases are made of aluminum . If you can use them I will take $100.00 for the set and you can list them on uship.com for pick up . Ive been searching high and low for a set of these seats for quite some time! ( http://www.correctcraftfan.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=9982 - See my original WANTED thread here.) If I hadnt finally given up and built a mold, Id be all over these for $100. I havent popped any out yet, but theres no way I could afford to reproduce them for that price... these are a steal. I would actually be interested in the aluminum frames if you cant use them. Nate, Ive got a seat of seats out of a Ski Tique that Id consider parting with if you'd rather have those. What boat are they going into? ------------- |

Tim.....I wasn't sure if there was special backing or not to support the swim platform. Good info.
By the way, I would like to put a rear facing observers seat in my Southwind....similiar size to whats in a 2001. These seats seem hard to find. Has anybody fabricated one? Can you buy them from a supplier? |

Hard to find? More like impossible! Even if you could find a 2001 seat, I doubt it would fit right in your Southwind. Your best bet is to build something yourself. Alan rebuilt the delux seats from his '81 from scratch out of plywood- frames, bases and all. I know there are pics on here somewhere- those might be a good reference to start from. Edit- it just occurred to me that you might be referring to the early 80's style of 2001 seat (non-delux) that had aluminum frames and wood bases, unlike the plastic delux from the mid-late 80's. If thats the case then bases would be a little easier to build- but I doubt you could drop a set from a Ski Nautique right in. The frames that I saw on a '69ish Southwind with the buckets were close to 6" taller than the equivalent SN style. If you could have those fabricated, then its just a matter of making the seat back and bottom out of ply and having them upholstered. ------------- |

Yes, I am referring to the early 80's style of seats, and not the deluxe versions. I may just have to figure out a way to fabricate a seat base...either a welded metal one, or plywood. I would like the extra seating up front, and make it easier to observe skiers.
As part of my winter project, I am going to re-upholster the boat, and would like to do the front seat at the same time. |

Have you seen the pieces involved in a seat base from the 70's like I am talking about? The ply bases would be easy to build and have covered (Id coat them in epoxy first), it would just be the frames that would need to be made special. Measure the height to the bottom of your seat and thats the height of the rise you'd need. I bet Christines can make you a special taller set- they sell the standard ones for the smaller boats:

Thanks Tim! Thats what I am looking for. I will contact Christines to see what a custom set costs. I have also been having a local welding company do some work for my guide posts. I may see if they can do something like that as well. |
