i have my mercruiser apart to order parts but it seems there are many different models to choose from and none of them match what i was told it is and what i got off the motor.
can anyone help me so i dont order and ship parts just to find out i got it wrong.
im told it is a mercruiser 5.7 mpi
off the motor i got
GM 5.7 LG SGI
serial number L005823
number from the front of the motor U100989MK
any help would be great.

what parts do you need? the critical thing when ordering parts for a Mercruiser is the year and the engine serial number,,,post the parts and maybe i can come up with some part numbers for you

i contacted mercruiser and this is what i got back.
Good Morning. Thank you for choosing MerCruiser. Your engine was built in 1997. It is a MIE(mercruiser inboard engine) MPI (multi point Injected) engine. The CID(cubic inch displacement) is 350 with a rated horsepower of 300. I hope this information is helpful. Have a great day.
im fairly sure my lack of experience in ordering motor parts is causing this problem. can someone tell me what MAG and HORIZON stand for?

after i get those parts on im also going to need exhaust manifolds and an alternator.
