All,
I have a 1964 Correct Craft Mustang that is missing the bushing or assembly (not sure what to call it) that goes around the drive shaft at the hull. I am not exactly sure what the part looks like nor am I sure what it is called because it wasnt there when I bought it and I have never seen another 60s Mustang out of the water. Can anyone tell me anything about this part? What is it called? Part number? How do I find one? How do I install it? There are 2 parts where the shaft goes through the hull. One is the stuffing box and the other is the shaft log. The shaft log is fiberglassed into the boat. The shaft log looks like a brass pipe that comes up out of the hull. The stuffing box connects to it with a piece of rubber hose. Check the shaft log to make sure it wasn't ground down by misalignment.

Do check the log as recommended by Bruce to make sure it's not ground out inside. With all that water you have over there, you need to spend some more time with the boats. Thanks for the information guys. The part that I am missing is the seal assembly that is found where the drive shaft meets the hull, I believe it is usually flush with the hull. Is that the stuffing box? There is a rectangular hole around the drive shaft that now allows water to come in. I am assuming it is not supposed to be there and that I am missing a piece. Chris, You may be thinking of Andy (okie boarder). Andy was having major leak problems at the log on his Supra and had started a thread on it over on wakeboarder.com. HW asked me to take a look at it. Andy having posted pictures (he always does which is good!!!) the problem was pretty obvious. With his glassing background being very limited, I ended up walking him through the process of getting the log out and then glassing it back in. Now look at what he's doing - some of us wouldn't undertake the major stringer job on a Supra with having to pulling the cap!!! I'll see if I can link the thread. It would be a great one because it was a step by step with pictures. BTW, it sure says something about CCfan when non CC owners come to the site with problems!! Help me out with a link. I can't find your thread on the log over on wakeboarder even going through 15 pages!! BTW, it's been awhile since I visited the site and noticed you're keeping the members over there informed on you stringer job too. (You've got the majority of them amazed!!) I also noticed some of the questions the members are asking. No offence but it's apparent why some come to CCfan for tech advice!! Keep up the great work.
