I am looking at a 1995 Ski Nautique which supposedly has no wood in the hull construction. However there is a soft spot in the floor along the port side of the engine hood. it's roughly 5"x18"long. Anyone else have this issue and any ideas on the best way to repair. Maybe it's not worth repairing and I should keep looking, or maybe I should just ignore it assumming it won't get any worst. Any thoughts??

The foam under the fiberglass floor has decayed. This is not a big deal & can be easily fixed yourself. It would be several hundred $ for a shop to do, though.
Use it as a negotiation tool.

So what are we looking at? drilling some holes in the floor and injecting some kind of resin?
Is there some detailed procedures in print anywhere? I'm very capable and have a heated shop to work in, just wondering how involved it relly gets...

I'll dig out a previous thread.
Other people have fixed this.
It involves cutting a section of the fiberglass floor up, digging out the bad foam, replacing the foam, re-fiberglassing, replacing the carpet.
It is labor intensive, but not bad for materials.
A guy could just drill a hole & inject foam-in-a-can, but that would be mickey mouse & would not last.

injecting some resin is not the worse idea I have heard, neither is ignoring it unless it gets worse. If there was wood ignoring it or repairing it half way could lead to further damage or the boat falling apart. Not so much here, if it bothers you finding a way to get expoy under the floor and putting a cinder block or two over it till it dries might work forever and wont hurt more than the cost of the epoxy. Me I would ignore a soft spot in a composite boat till I needed to replace the carpet.

I had the same issue with my 1998, although it was only a small area. I didn't bother with it, and it didn't seem to get noticibly worse in the 4 years & 450 hours I had it for.
I would back Joe's advice about leaving it until you need to replace the carpet, or if it gets significantly worse.
However if you can't get it cheaper due to this problem, I would keep looking if I had the luxury you have over there.

it seems to be a common issue with composite boats on that area, between the doghouse and passenger seat right?

actually, it's port side of engine hood near the rear of engine hood.
I will definitely use it as a bargaining chip and probably take the advise of easiest fix first, then go from there. Thanks for yur thoughts!!

My 96 has the same thing in that area, just a little smaller. I've decided I am not going to do anything until the carpet needs replacing. Hasn't seemed to get any worse over the 75 hrs I put on my boat last summer.

same here Mike, I have a small area in my 96 that hasnt gotten worse and doesnt cause any trouble. I wouldnt let it be the reason you dont buy the boat

i have the same issue in my 1995 snob in the exact same location. had it for several years now and it has not gotten any worse. planning on ignoring mine until it either gets worse or i need new carpet.

Sounds something like old vent hoses crushing and batery box drains breaking on 2001's. With several having the same problem, it'll be interesting to see who digs in and finds the source.
