These tires are airless and are scheduled to be out on the market very soon.
The bad news for law enforcement is that spike strips will not work on these.
Just think of the impact t on existing technology:
A. no more air valves...
B. no more air compressors at gas stations...
C. no more repair kits...
D. no more flats....
These are actual pictures taken in the South Carolina plant of Michelin

I saw that pic a year or more ago, its been coming for a while, i wonder if they make them in pimpin 20's?
I seriously wonder what they do for fule milage, you use air pressure adjustments for traction and contact patch adjustments. those take the idiot out of the formula but dont appear to have any adjustment. always have a flat wide contact patch, would be interesting to see when the side walls are packed full of snow and out of balance.
I would have to bet a final version would have to have a sidewall cover at least.

That's a good point about balance, snow, mud, Alabama undercoatin'(red clay) in the "spokes" That will shake your car apart.

Sean.
The "pimpin 20's" crossed my mide as well. I love it when I see them on a SUV and not some decent M&S's. It really puts the owner in perspective that he never intends on using the vehicle as designed.
I think it was Caddy who started the trend selling the "Gascalade's"

Side walls you ask, they had problem worked out in the 50's

The other thing is, that looks to be about a 14" rim. They're pushin cars off the line now with 13-14" brake rotors. Im guessing they might as well just make a solid rubber band for the 20" and up crowd.

I thought I saw these non-pneumatic spare tires on a Corvette 10 or so years ago in an engineering design magazine... but I thought the vanes collapsed more when the car wasn't in motion.
