Hi Keith (and others),

I know I'm really early with this, but as I'm leaving for my tour in Afganisthan on february 27th, I have to start making the arrangements for my visit to the US in July (visa, pasport, tickets, hotel...). Everything will have to be arranged before my departure to the Middle East.

Of course, I want to attend GL (and yes CCFans, Chantal will join me ). But in order to make the necessary arrangements, I would like to know when the GL-reunion will take place.

Also, what's the best place to stay at GL? Not too far from the lake and of course, very close to the bar LOL.

Thaks in advance,
Kristof and Chantal

My top picks would be McConnells B & B, Lakeview, and Bayview as far as places to stay by the bar and lake. I love that part of town. Very quaint, quiet, convenient, and neat.

Kristof,

Joel is correct, these hotels are the closest to everything including the ramp where you'll be getting your rides out on the lake etc. The McConnell B&B would be my first pick for a real nice stay with Chantal, without Quinner moving all of your stuff to another room while you sleep haha...
We are going into the dead of winter soon. The Lakeside is already closed for the season and I don't think is even taking reservations, and the Bayview has rooms available one one of the weekends but not the other.
We'll need Keith to confirm the dates so we can get you set up... Glad to see you are making the plans !!!

Sorry John could not resist this chance. Maybe he lost his black book also.

Did you find your hair brush.

Kristof I stayed at the Lakeside last year the bonus is that the Goose Blind is right behind it.

lewy; Black (actually red) book is still gone. Altho I did find our other notebook with all our passwords in it. Patti was not happy that one was lost for awhile!
Have quite a few extra brushes and hair dryers on hand. Can't be to careful.
What time is it on the other side of the world? And....how cool is it to be able to talk to your buds all around the world!

if they would only let us set up cots in the blind, with a view of the lake.

Lewy, you and Jo gonna make it again this year?

John,
No worries my friend, I didn't loose your phone number (in fact it's programmed in the phone memory).
Been really busy these days. I'm just back from a field exercise to prepare for Afganisthan (next one is by the end of january ).
But I am gonna call you, or did you really think we would come to the States and not make a stop at Lake Wales...?? We will have to make arrangements too.

Eric,
You coming to GL?? If not, I will have to make a Brunstucky stop too .

Anyway lots to call and to plan in the next few weeks...
Really looking forward in meeting many of you at GL.

Lewy,
I think I will do that, thanks for the tip mate!

So, I just called the Lakeside and they wrote our names down. Once we get the date of the reunion, I'll wire the money...
Ha, I'm already exited about attending (and still a long time to go)... Especially since we had to forfait last year

John we are 16 hours ahead of New York/Miami time so it is nearly always the next day in Australia. Yesterday when you were at 11:16pm it was 4:15pm the next day down under. It sure is great to be able to keep in touch with all the mates I made at GL09.

Eric I doubt we will get back next year but never say never. Now if Alan had the Hurricane finished......

Kristof the Lakeside is a great location. The meet and greet is in the park across the road. The lake and ramp is 100m away and the Little Corporal is just around the corner. Although in Green Lake everything is not far away. It is like the town is in a time warp from the 60-70's a beautiful place when the sun is out.

It would be interesting to see it now with the snow and frozen lake?

Gotta agree Lewy, it's a real Norman Rockwell town . . . and I actually think that being there in the winter would be beautiful, nothing like the quiet of a deep snow.

Lewy,
That pic is where we ice bowl during the winter carnival in GL. right off those docks. 70 inches of snow last year. Quiet as can be, well until Mojo's family and Raindogs family show up to "Shread" the surrounding hills and wake up the "Blind" for a little fun...

Winter is beautiful up there, you all would find the town the same as in summer. Christmas it's decorated, horse drawn sleighs, the whole corny thing hahaha... The Schlitz is ice cold, that's for sure ..

Went to the Town Hall today to get my pasport.
When it's ready, I can go to the website to get permission to travel to the US.
Once I get the date off course. But Keith sent me a mail to tell me not to worry...
After that, get some plane tickets and make lots of phone calls LOL.

Start building up your tolerance immediately to alcohol and homosexuals (Ken Spurling).

Hollywood,
My tolerance to alcohol is pretty fine , we are a beer drinking nation as you might have heard...
But... There is a zero acohol policy on my mission in the Middle East, so after four months in the Afghan sand that tolerance might be lost
Oh well...

Sebastian,
All I know is that we also have to ask permission to travel to the US. I looked it up on a few local websites from travel agencies. There's a website where we can do that.

Got some bad news from my superiors today at 1100 hours... Due to budgetary reasons (crisis affects us all apparently) my post has been "deleted" from the roll for the upcoming mission in februari. I've been put on the next tour to Afganisthan (next year)...
So, as proud as I was to be able to serve "the cause", I'll have to wait a little longer...

Good thing about this is that I'll have some more time to prepare for the upcoming ski season... And in particular... For upcoming GL!!!

To the guys I talked to on the phone: sorry boys, but you'll have to wait for the promised diary on my "adventures" in the Middle East on this forum a little while longer

I'm just glad you can make the trip to GL2010.

And to say it again, "Thank You" for what you do for all of us.

Now get in shape for the Goose Blind Ski Shot.

Hollywood buying !!
