Hi Guys.
does anyone know if you can get a scan tool or on board diagnostic tool for the GT 40 motor.I believe that they have a special plug and an auto scan tool won't fit it.
My nephew has a nautique with the engine check light on ,and we need one of these tools.
cheers

I thought it was obd2, can you take a pic of the plug to possibly identify?? my scanner comes with about 15 different connecters and to date i have not had the chance to scan a boat. how is the boat acting? as of 2010 ALL boats will be required to be catalyzed which will increase the price of the boat, thats here in the ole USA that is

Hi Eric
The boat idles fine and runs up to 1500rpm ok,but as you increase rpm the motor surges,so much that you can't use it.
I do have pics ,but how do I insert them on the forum.can,t find an attach icon.

that end looks very familier...earlier ford plug.
well to date on these ford injected engines weve seen alot of fuel pump issues and a bad M.A.P sensor, is there a schrader valve so you can check fuel pressure? it should be on the rail. if the reading is 2 lbs out the engine will give you problems.
the map sensor controls timing advance and a new one cured another guys issue like the one you are having. i think it is an auto part and not marine specific

well after much frustration and bypassing ,finally it was the oil pressure sensor.with a scan tool it would have saved hours.
