It sure won't win any races even with the early tracked machines but the drum drive sure is ingenious. Obviously OSHA wasn't around back then - take a look at the drums open chain drives!

Very Cool Pete...I'd be pretty scared whipping around on that thing, I'd hate to fall into one of those drums!

How cool was that ride.
I was watching that a couple of days ago when my brother sent it to me. If you notice, part of the way through, there is a unit powered by a Chevy engine (the one with the car style body). Does that mean there were more than one? Why would Hank have a Chevy powered anything? (I'm not knocking Chevy)

Does this look like something Henry (Ford, that is) would have come up with???
Its probably a little faster than the twin screw snow machine!!!

No name,
Interesting build the guy did. A friend of yours?
The first thing that came to mind was wondering about how well it steers. Then, looking closely, it looks like he did have a issue. Look at the first and last pictures and you'll see risers at the skis have been added to put more pressure on them. Also looks like he added some pretty aggressive carbides (rods under the skis) to get them to bite in corners. I wonder what he used for a differential between the tracks? That could be the problem keeping the thing from steering too. Hopefully he didn't try a limited slip. There's not enough traction on the tracks to break a limited slip loose in the corners.
Speaking of Ford and differentials, I remember back in the early 70's you could get limited slip both in the front and rear of the Bronco (the old small one). That lasted until there were law suits coming up from people driving on snow pack/ice going straight when they really wanted to turn!!!! I was in Montana at the time and do know of one that when down several hundred feet in a canyon road to the river below.

No idea who this contraption belongs to. A friend of mine sent the pics to me since he knew I have an old sled, and love anything with an engine.
