This is a direct quote from "Mr Smoke-n-mirrors" taken from the newswire..........
When times are tough, you tighten your belts," Obama said, according to a White House transcript of his appearance Tuesday at a high school in Nashua, N.H.
"You don't go buying a boat when you can barely pay your mortgage," Obama said. "You don't blow a bunch of cash on Vegas when you're trying to save for college. You prioritize. You make tough choices."
......... this is WAR...Now he's attacking BOATS!!!

I work for the federal gov - and I'm in the same "boat" trouble everyone else is. I had a 7hr surgery on my rt. ankle & foot almost 2 years ago and still owe 2 Drs. $1100 - My wife has had 6 knee surgeries on one knee and had it replaced twice. I pay my bills and WILL pay off these medical bills. She needs surgery on the other knee and I have a torn rotator cuff in my left shoulder but we can't aford the Dr bills.

Andy,
Sounds like "working for the government" and "running the government" are two different things?!? Im not trying to be smart here, but do you think the "boys club" at the top are having the same financial problems as us? I myself, doubt it.
I guessing that most of us on this site will pay our bills... problem is as of now there isnt enough income to do those "extras". We make priorities with what we do have. Somehow ,insurance, heat, electricity, food, etc keep winning out.
And Pat, I like your interpretation of his statement!

The true conservatives were complaining about medicare part D and the first bail out along with bushes other "Big Tent" spending. Still PBO has raised the debt way more in 2 years than in all of bushes 8. In fact congress sets the budget (democratically controlled then and now), and PBO voted for every spending increase while in the senate. Quit blaming bush, he is history, it is PBO and his majority that are responsible. If things were improving would you credit bush?

I am not conservative but I saw a bumper sticker that really made me laugh today.
"I'll keep my freedom guns and money- You can keep the Change"
Seriously why are we the richest developed nation without a nationalized health care system? COBRA for our family of 5 while my wife switched jobs with no downtime was $1300!!!!! Just to be insured for one month!
Who cares about wars with terrorists if you can die right here at home because you get sick and cannot afford health care! If I see a terrorist I will field dress him like a deer, but if I got H1N1 during the month we had no insurance, I could be dead. The prisoners at guantanamo get better health care than your average American. When was the last time YOU had a physical?
Corporations, greed, and corruption keep any real change from happening in this country. Not George Bush and not Barack Obama.

Nancy Pelosi - I've got to take a blood pressure pill. Her husband owns the largest tuna co. in the world. 70% of the people in American Somoa work for him. The Misses gave American Somoa $300,000,000.00(3 hundred million dollors) to stimulate the Islands economy and refused to raise American Somoa's minimum wage. So say's Glen Beck. I thought one of the tuna companies pulled out of Samoa, didnt want to pay minimum wage, thats are breeding grounds for big football players. i personally cant stand Pelosi, she does need to go,
I still have the thoughts of what if Mcain made it, he has war in his blood and would he have been gung-ho in Iraq and kept the spending spree going? I do like the Gitmo bay thing, you can tortue without breaking the law, sometimes you need that..
Really though how many of you are going to go out and buy a new boat this year, or have a Vegas trip planned? I would have to say 1%, so to me it was an intelligent statement, pay off your damn double wide before you plop down that 70k on a new boat, get back to the basics and the rest will follow, buy necessity items to sustaine, if you cant afford dont buy it

I am sure your just like the rest of us in this country who are too irresponsible to manage our own finances....glad someone realizes it. Ok...here is the plan...I will hold the boat for you (I know you must have spent way too much already in Vegas)....and you can buy it when Obama says it's ok.
But...because we are all so stupid,I will sell it to you anyway....when you loose your home,I have a spare bedroom for you and Pam...that is if I still have my house! We still need to go to vegas and I have not bought another boat this year....so things could be a little iffy.

Tighten our belts? I am so sick of this administration blaming everybody else for problems they have caused. If he wants to tighten belts maybe start with the 22 personal assistants Michelle has to the tune of 1.6 million dollars. Or tell Pelosi to stop using the military air transport for her family spending 2 million last year. This government is out of control remember that in November.

Heard a story this morning apparently the west wing in tha past has been adorned with paintings, in the bush years it included washington crossing the deleware and such, meant to provide inspiration as to the importance of the office. Currently it is filled with aprox 300 photos of PBO in his first year and they are rotated weekly. What a narcasist. Be very afraid.

I dont promise ton keep track of all my sources but this came from a transcript of the Ed Shulze show, a PROGRESSIVE talk show host talking about a recent visist to the white house
" The White House, the West Wing, and there are pictures all over, I mean, everywhere of President Obama, of his life in the first year as president of the United States. Now, I don't know if that's the way it is with every president. But it was almost a shrine. I mean, well, here's a picture of Obama, the president with his kids over here, there he is getting on Air Force one, here is with some military people, here he is on the line, working the line at one of his campaign stops. I mean, just, it was just one picture after another! And so I got the message right away that there's nothing but Obama fans in the White House, which I think is a good thing."
This came from an unamed source.I was just in the White House for three hours. Inside, the walls are covered with 11 by 14 framed photos of the president in various activities. According to the Secret Service they are taken all of the time and changed weekly. I would estimate there are 300 photos around the White House now east and west wings, and they are changed weekly."
Best I can do for you.

She is a lifetime NRA member(they hunt "bambi..well actaully moose), she helps in her husbands fishing business, (Yes, he is self-employed), He rides and races snowmobiles ( Yes they are TWO STROKES), 2003 she was appointed chair to Alaska's Oil and Gas Conservation Commission and later resigned (she stated lack of ethics of the leadership...ethics,,,hmmm, thats something new in politics) , she is Pro life, ( she knew their 5th child was going to be born with Downs Syndrome, and never considered abortion) AND finally she aint that bad looking...

I thought Pelosi was the one who rang up the $100k bar tab. Nice of her to be spending the taxpayers money on food and booze while she jets all over the country, considering that her and her husband have probably already made ten times the amount everyone on this site combined will ever make.
I'm no Joe-bama fan, but don't foresee any one president/person causing or fixing this mess we are in . Our govt. needs an enima. We need to start over w/o all the lobbyists, special interest groups, pork, personal agendas etc.
