Buddy of mine went to buy a neat little boat yeaterday, and came home with two. While picking up the first boat, he met a guy that had bought an old farm and found a boat in the barn, he said it was in decent shape, had the motor running 3 years ago and hadnt touched it since.

Of course, he is like me and this peaked his interest. He followed the guy back to the barn and found an old 50's model Feathercraft Vagabond sitting under the shed. No pics of the actual one he found yet, but here are a a few pics of vagabonds.

His is in good shape, was on the water 2 summers ago and then put in the shed.

I noticed that in this pic too. His actually has a wooden floor made of 2"strips with aluminum spacers between the boards. Looks like an old wood bed floor from a 60's model pickup truck.

Very cool boats. A few of those on our lake, in fact one right next door, back in the 60s. Back then it was easy (although not really fair) to think it was a kind of low end boat. Now I think it would be a ball to have one like that, along with an old 15 foot Thompson lapstrake and and early 60s 15 foot, super basic fiberglass boat with a 50 or 65 merc on it that dominated the lake back then. Then in the late 60s early 70s the new glastrons made a huge splash and really changed the look of the lake. They make good looking boats back then, now they just make those big clorox bottle boats like everyone else.

I think its a cool little boat, would make a nice littel cruiser for the lake. I love the look of the transom on it.

Very cool.

Thanks for the Glastron reminder Larry. Feally liked the look of them back in the day. My brother's second boat was a '70 (I think) Slickcraft outboard which also was a very good looking boat.

When I was in my teens, friends of my parents had one of these 143s. I would offer to wash it for them and they would let me buzz around the lake in it. Fun little boat. (1969 brochure)
