I'm getting ready to do some deck repair, just waiting to for my color matched gel coat(taffy ivory) to to get here.I read http://www.boatus.com/boattech/casey/02.htm - this and was wondering where to get liquid styrene. While looking on line for it,found out it's not too user friendly. Any thoughts?
After I get it here, I'll check the color match and let everyone know.Minicraft is supposed to keep this match on on file so maybe others can use it too.
The reason for doing this is because I repaired a couple of big gouges in the deck last year, and after sanding and buffing, turned out better that I could have ever hoped, but I could not get the color right.

Gary,
I'd just use acetone. I'd don't believe there's such a thing as "reactivating" polyester. Once it kicks, that's it. Wiping out the damaged area is in my opinion just cleaning it out. Acetone is actually a stonger solvent.

I suggest fine line tape masking the complete area around the repair until you get it sanded down to the thickness of the tape. It will keep the gel from getting all over but the big benefit is it prevents you from oversanding the gel around the repair.
